Chemical Engineer - How to become a Chemical Engineer?
Chemical engineers are people who deal with the designing and maintenance of chemical plants. They are also concerned with the enhancement of chemical processes for changing unprocessed materials or chemicals into more important resources. It is also used to separate waste materials from chemicals. Both Graduate and Postgraduate courses are available in chemical engineering. The basic qualification required for joining the BE / B.Tech course is a pass in 10+2 or its equivalent with PCM. Candidates who have finished the course successfully can find employment in areas like: the production of food materials, specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, power production, biotechnology etc. The notification regarding the examination and its details will be declared in every leading newspaper.
Qualifying Exam
The selection of the candidates for this course is based on their marks scored in the class 10+2 exam and the marks obtained in the Joint Entrance Exam carried out by the IIT’s.
The candidates are also selected through the All India Engineering Entrance Exam or other National level exams.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants who would like to join this course must be Indian citizens. They must have a Bachelors degree in B.Tech or B.E or a postgraduate degree in Chemical Engineering. The candidates must be atleast 17 years at the time of applying. Age relaxation is offered for the candidates of the SC/ST/OBC communities.
How to prepare for exam and interview ?
Candidates who are appearing for the written examination can prepare themselves by going for coaching at centers near to them. They can also refer to the previous years question papers. The details about chemical engineering and its aspects will be available in the internet. It can also be taken from magazines and books related on the subject. It is also possible for the candidates to consult previous alumni. At the time of the interview, the candidates must make sure that they have prepared themselves well. The time, date, location and other details regarding the interview should be noted carefully. The candidates must make sure that they answer to the point at the time of interview.
