The Certified Software Tester (CSTE) certification is basically the one which helps the one to establish standards for initial qualification and provide direction for the testing function through an aggressive educational program. To complete the certification one has to answer four-part written examination.The paper has two multiple choice parts and two essay parts.There may be neraly 20 MCQ and around 10 skill category.This examination evalutaes one knowledge and the prcatice of skill areas.The one who is unable to clear the exam can give it a try for two more chance by submitting the application for examination resit and paying all required fees and that too only after six months.

A completed Certification Candidacy Application should only be submitted by individuals who: have reviewed the CSTE Body of Knowledge, are working in the field covered by the certification designation, have major experience and breadth to have mastered the basics of the entire CSTE Body of Knowledge, and are ready to take the necessary examination and therefore wish to establish candidacy.

Recertification is required every three years on the anniversary of the date of the most recent recertification (or original certification) date. However Credentials previous to 2002 did not include expiration dates.The initial application fee cost is $350.00. The fee now includes a CD of the Guide to the Common Book of Knowledge.
