Difference between an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s degree
Associate degree is a two year study program, usually awarded by institutions of higher learning such as community colleges or a junior colleges or universities. It is very much similar to crash course which helps in training student in a particular field of specialization. This degree acts as a stepping stone to a bachelor’s degree. This degree is basically designed to train students for a specific career and it is vocationally focussed.
This degree can be completed more flexibly and it is more affordable compared to bachelor’s degree. It prepares students to become sub-professional in a particular field. This program does not offer the complete degree but it makes student eligible for the regular degree program of a university. Basically, there are three classes of associate degree. They are-
• The associate of arts degree(A.A degree)
• The associate of applied science degree(A.A.S.degree)
• The associate of science degree(A.S. degree)
Most students prefer to complete the first two years of their education from a community college and then transfer to a four year college or university.
Bachelor’s degree is an undergraduate degree program which takes approximately three to four years to complete. This degree is basically awarded by colleges or universities. This degree shows a greater depth of study and gives broader education that seems to be quite beneficial to the potential employers. It is generally considered as a first level of university degree. This degree later serve as the basis for more advanced degrees like masters, PhD, etc.
This degree results in higher earnings and increased long- term benefits. It is a more specialised program which trains student to be the working professional in the field. Bachelor’s degree offers a wide range of opportunity for students. As far as career path is concerned the value of bachelor degree is quite high as compared to associate degree.
