Bachelor of engineering (BE) is an undergraduate degree course which is awarded by an accredited university on successful completion of a four year course. It is offered by a no. of institutions in India in different fields. Students are eligible for bachelor of engineering degree only after successful completion of HSC examination and only for students who had opted for science stream in +2 levels (XI and XII). Students also need to sit for a Common Entrance Test (CET) or Centralized All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) or Deemed University Entrance Exam in order to get admitted to this course. Students are selected on the basis of merit (i.e. marks secured through entrance exams and in the final exams of 10+2).

This degree can be undertaken in any of the fields of engineering like civil engineering, chemical engineering, automobile engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, biotechnology engineering, etc. An individual may pursue further courses like M.E., MBA, and MSc only after successful completion of the Bachelor of Engineering degree course and they may start their professional career in the fields like Information Technology, Management, Engineering, Research and Development, etc.
