Eligibility Criteria

The minimum educational qualification for taking the TAE is set to be graduation in any discipline from the recognized university. The candidates must have minimum of 21 years at the time of examination. The upper age limit is defined to be 27 years for taking TAE. There is considerable reservation for the eligible categories as per the Government rules.

How to Apply

One can apply for the exam in different ways. The aspirants can use the application form printed in the employment news/Newspapers, coming with the notification details. They can also buy the form from the given regional centers or can download it from the SSC official website. They can also by the form from the private agencies, if available or can use a standard printed copy for applying the exam. The examination will cost for Rs.100/- and the mode of payment is Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS), available in any post offices in the country.

As to become an Income Tax Officer the first step a candidate needs to clear is to have graduate degree. If you are a graduate already then apply for the SSC exam. The SSC carries out an exam every year as for the recruitment of Income tax officer. This exam mainly falls during the month of April every year. The SSC exam includes a written examination which will be in an objective question model. Candidates who pass the written will have to go through a personnel interview. Candidates have to be prepared in subjects like English, Arithmetic, GK etc as to pass the written test. Candidates who need to get a job as an income tax officer needs to work really hard with total focus towards the subjects. Have a genuine interest towards current affairs.

There is no examination for recruitment of Income Tax Officers by SSC. Income Tax Officers are appointed only through promotions from the feeder cadre of inspectors. To recruit Income Tax Inspectors, SSC conducts combined Graduate level examination, details about which are already available on this website. If you want to come in the department directly as Asstt Commissioner of Income Tax, you will have to clear the civil services examination conducted by UPSC and then opt for IRS (Indian Revenue Service)

Combine Graduate Level Examination is conducts by the SSC in every year. In the CGL Examination there are many more post include for various Govt. Departments. Post of Income Tax Officer is also include in the CGL Examination.

Qualification for CGL (Income Tax Officer Job) Examination:
A Graduate Degree in any Stream from any recognised university or its equivalent.

Age Limit:
For General Category: 18 to 27 year.
For OBC Category: 18 to 30 year.
For SC/ST Category: 18 to 32 year.
For PH Category: 18 to 37 year.

Income Tax Officer is a departmental promotion post, no SSC or UPSC conduct open examination for the post of Income tax officer, only the employee of Income tax dept. can take the exam of Income tax department and no other personal can take this exam.

Please tell about the exact scenario of "ssc-cgl". How the candidates are recruited as income tax inspector,custom officer, cbi sub-inspector. Is there a common exam for all and after that candidates recruited according to interest & merit? or one has to apply individually for each post as per notification??
