Hello ,
These are the info that you are searching for you should have robust physique and good mental health. Chest should be well developed having minimum 5 Cms expansion. Should have normal hearing with each ear and good binocular vision in both eyes. should be able to read 6/6 in distant vision chart with each eye. Colour vision should be CP-III. Should recognize red and green colours. Should have sufficient number of natural healthy gum and teeth i.e. minimum 14 dental points. Should not have disease like deformity of bones, hydrocele and varicocle or piles. Physical Fitness Tests(PFT) To determine the Physical Fitness, the following tests carrying 100 marks are held :- (a) 1 Mile Run (b) Pull Ups (c) Balance (d) 9 Feet Ditch Marking system is as follows :- (a) 1 MILE RUN (i) 5.40 Mins and below 60 Mks (ii) 5.41 Mins to 5.50 48 Mks (iii) 5.51 Mins to 6 .05 36 Mks (iv) 6.06 Mins to 6.20 24 Mks (b) PULL UPS (i) 10 and above 40 Mks (ii) 9 33 Mks (iii) 8 27 Mks (iv) 7 21 Mks (v) 6 16 Mks (c) BALANCE Should be qualified and no marks are awarded. The physical standards and medical tests to join Indian army are, Medical Eligibility : The candidate must undergo a medical check up at a military hospital and guarantee the following: The applicant should be mentally sound with a powerful physique. Normal hearing ability in both ears is a must. The candidate should necessarily have a good binocular vision and the ability to read 6/6 in distance vision board. The applicant needs to be free from diseases like piles, hydrocele and deformity of bones. The candidate must have sufficient number of gum and teeth. Physical Eligibility Criteria : Western Himalayan applicants : height-166cms, weight -48kgs and chest- 77cms Eastern Himalayan candidates: height-160cms,weight- 48kgs and chest -77cms For aspirants from Eastern and Western Plain region : height-170cms, weight-50kgs and chest- 77cms Southern region applicants : height -165cms, weight- 50kgs and chest -77cms. Central region youths: height -168 cms, weight - 50kgs and chest -77cms. Relaxation in height,weight & chest. There is relaxation on height standards for Ladakhis, Gorkhas, Tribals and people from Andaman Nicobar Island of up to 5 to 7 cms. Hope this information is useful to you. |

Hi,
General physical requirements common for all candidates. 1. You must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/ disability, which is likely to interfere with efficient performance of duties. There should be no evidence of weak constitution, bodily defects or overweight. 2. Your chest should be well developed. The minimum range of expansion after full inspiration should be 5 cm. 3. There should be no disease of bones and joints of the body. 4. You should be free of any past history of mental breakdown or fits. 5. Your hearing should be normal without any evidence of present or past disease of the ear, nose and throat. 6. There should be no sign of functional or organic disease of the heart and blood vessels. Your blood pressure should also be normal. 7. The muscles of the abdomen should be well developed without any enlargement of the liver or spleen. Any evidence of disease of internal organs of the abdomen can be a cause for rejection. 8. An un-operated hernia can make you unfit for selection. If operated, this should have been done at least six months prior to the present examination and healing should be complete without any potential for recurrence. 9. There should be no hydrocele, varicocele or piles. If operated for hydromel and/or varicocele, this should have been done at least six months prior to the present examination and healing should be complete without any recurrence. 10. Urine examination will be done and any abnormality, if detected, can be a cause for rejection. 11. Any disease of the skin, which is likely to cause disability or disfigurement, will also be a cause for rejection. 12. Vision will be tested. You must have good binocular vision. In case you have undergone or are detected to have undergone Radial Keratotomy, or any other procedure to improve the visual acuity, you will be permanently rejected. 13. You should have sufficient number of natural and sound teeth. A minimum of 14 dental points will be acceptable. When 32 teeth are present, the total dental points are 22. If you are quite interested to become a member of Indian Army, you need to physically fit, mentally strong as it is said to be one of the most toughest jobs. A lot of toil is required as you may face many situations while saving the nation. Firstly, you should be a good runner,should not be fatigue, a good sound mind with a spirit to save nation, properly developed body without any kind of weakness, every part of yours body should be healthy to the maximum extent to which you can make it and last but not the least you need to have a proper height and weight.

Indian Army can be joined through NDA(National Defence Academy) entrance exam, conducted twice every year by UPSC.
The eligible candidate must be n unmarried Indian Male having either appear for the final 12th exam or pass in any stream from a recognised Board within the age of 16.5 to 19 years with good Physical and Mental health. Physical requirements is the most important eligibility in Indian Army.
1)Height should be on the range of 165 cm or above. 2)Weight should be 50kg or below it. 3)Chest size should be 77-82 cm. 4)You should not have any eye/ear disabilities , eye should read 6/6 vision. |
