Yes you can become an IAS officer as you wish after completing your graduation and meeting the requirements. I think you are aware about the benefits of Physically challenged candidates in IAS exam(Officially Civil Service Exam). Benefits of PD are :- ->you'll be given extra time to complete the examination. ->you have 3% reservation according to the disability act 1995 ->you have maximum age relaxation to write this exam. ->The posts are reserved to the applicable services. (Only you're not allowed for IPS). One more main thing to be kept in mind is you should have 40% or more disability to be eligible for getting the reserved seat under PD category. you need to meet two or more physical requirements/abilities to perform daily duties of the allotted service. here is the list for that. ->Work performed by manipulating(with fingers). ->Work performed by pulling and pushing. ->Work Performed by lifting. ->Work performed by kneeling and crouching ->Work performed by bending. ->Work performed by sitting on bench/chair. ->work performed by standing. ->work performed by walking. ->work performed by seeing. ->work performed by hearing or speaking . ->Work performed by reading and writing. you should satisfy two or more from the above list according to the panel decision you need to meet the requirements. As per you: your both legs got effected right, in this case also they will take into consideration but according to the seats/posts available they will finalize the candidates who will get the posts. Re: Am I eligible to become IAS officer if I am a Handicapped
Dear,
Physical handicap is not a physical handicap in securing jobs, particularly in Government. The registration for Civil Services Exam is currently on. Pl see the notification from the UPSC website or from Employment News. You are not only eligible, but also there will be certain reservations for physically handicapped persons. However, certain categories of handicap are not eligible for certain services. The details of all such categories are given in the advt. You also enjoy age relaxation. You are also exempted from the examination fee. You are permitted more attempts. Your qualifying marks will also be relaxed. Not only these at the entry stage, even after entry into govt, you get preferential treatment in the working environment, promotions, etc. So, put your handicap behind you and convert it into your strength. Of course, do make sure that you have proper papers establishing your handicap with you. All the best. |
