I am a B.E student, i want to know that i have information Technology branch i can eligible 4 this eam or not.
i also want 2 know other criteria 4 this exam.

yes you can.But you should have to change your subject for ex you have to choose Microprocessor..and others .

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Engineering Services Examination, 2010 commencing from Jun 26, 2010.

Last date of submission of application (Offline): 2nd March, 2010.
Online application submission: 6th - 22nd February 2010

there is no separate exam for it in ies exam,
the test is only held for four branches,
civil,mechanical,electrical,electronics,
if you can write exam any of the four subjects then you are elegible,

yes a b.tech level students can give IES exam,as you are from the IT department so you are eligible for the exam.

so still the discussion are going on for to make it compatible to ies frame.
Ies formally takes only 3 branches:
1.electrical
2.civil
3.electronics & telecom
4.mechanical
So,its not for sure for what they will take,but yes,the govt.is going to discuss something

IT students can appear for IES exam but they will not be answering from their concerned field if IT.instead IES do not have syllabus according to It stream .you will have to appear for UPSC exam.

Yes, its your deparment which isro seeks.
As because for their scientist “B” post, they only take 3 departments, which are:
1.electrical
2.imformation technology
3. mechanical
Application are out in the month of feb,exam in april.

what are the branches to be taken in engineering if u look forward for ies, ias , psc exams ?? especially in ies , i have heard dat there r a few branchs dat make u elligible for ies.... can i take "ec" ??will i be elligible for ies den?? please reply s soon as possible......

Yes, Obviously. You can appear for all these exams. No restrictions to that. All needed is, you must possess a graduation degree to write IAS exam,. For IES, You should be an Engineering graduate from any discipline. That's it.

Hi,
You should a graduate to appear for the IAS, psc Examinations. Specialisation is not considered. Can be from any degree.

For IES, You should be an Engineering graduate from any Discipline.
No specific discipline needed.

So No worries.
You can apply for the IES Examination.

Hi,
There is no option in IT to choose. So, you need to take any other engineering discipline preferred by IES. Some, Mechanical, civil, Electrical. Do check with the UPSC website: http://www.upsc.gov.in for the preference subjects of UPSC.

as a student of the engineering you can apply for the IES examination,but as it is not included in the subject of the IES exam so you have to give the exam from the different stream of the engineering.

definately you are eligiable to attain IES exam.

the criteria for IES exam is graduation in engineering from recognised university or institute.

but the problem is that, there have not any particular syllabus for IT candidates.

i am very sorry to inform you that IT students is not eligible for this exam,

because only four engineering departments are eligible for this exams.

these are mechanical,electrical,civil and ece.

there is no any chances for the IT.

can final year b.tech student give the ies examination?

The upsc exam hold IES exam .
this is for only 4 branches:
civil,mechanical,electronics,electrical.
so u cannot have opportunity for given the IES exam.even computer science student is not elligable for ies

Hi...well the eligibility criteria for IES exam is that you need to have minimum of pass certificate in your B.E under the following branch.
1.Mechanical engineering.
2.Electrical engineering.
3.Electronics and telecommunication engineering.
4.Civil engineering.
The candidates must attain the age between 21-30 years and therefore IT students are not eligible to appear for this exam.Those who fulfill the following criteria can appear this exam.Since you are from IT branch therefore you can appear for other exams related to your course.

There is no seperate subject as IT in IES
Though IT students can appear for IES ,will have to appear for UPSC in the above four subjects. They cannot go with their subject as IT.
Its most beneficial to choose electronics for it.
Hope that governments makes amendment to add IT ,CS too as the other subjects in IES.
