Course to become a news reader?
HI friends, I wanted to know whether I can be a news reader/news anchor only by virtue of my LLB degree or do I need to go for some kind of specialized course to land a good job. Please let me know the course details and the best institutes, preferably in Kolkata. Thanks in advance.

Re: Course to become a news reader?
Hi vike, the information that you offered is helpful to say the least but it would be really kind of you if you can also mention the name of the course that the institutions you have listed offers for news reading. Further let me know if I have to sit for entrance examinations to get into these institutions. You have said that I can get a job directly by virtue of my LL.B. degree, but I must admit that I have no job experience, so kindly suggest me the proper course of action that I should follow. Eagerly awaiting your reply.

The course for your choice of interest would be NEWS ANCHORING and TV JOURNALISM. But the course name may vary with institute. You must either visit the institution or call there or visit their website and tell them directly that you are willing to pursue some course for news reading. Hence you will come to know about the relevant course. Thank You for reply. |

Re: Course to become a news reader?
Dear Deep mukherjee,
A career in mass communication can be very interesting and challenging. To prepare for the entrance exam in this field, you must brush up on the following skills - 1) general awareness - Such exams usually have questions on general awareness so you must have a good idea of everything thats happening around you. You must read newspapers, magazines and follow news bulletins to keep in touch with your outside world regularly. 2) Media awareness - Questions about the media are of the utmost importance. some examples are - "who is the CEO of NDTV", "which was the first bollywood movie to be made in colour " , "Rupert Murdoch owns which international media company?" etc.. 3) Creativity - This is the most important part of a media entrance exam. Your creativity skills will be tested through either creative writing or drawing. You may be asked to write random creative stories and essays or you could be asked to draw something depending on the exam. example - 1) "write an essay about a machine that you have just invented which will rid the world of the problem of excessive population" 2) "make a visual poster for an advertising campaign for the new maggie multigrains flavor noodles" Since you wish to apply for advertising and P.R., you must be well aware of the modern marketing trends of various products and important firms that manage these. Some college may also test your analytical and quantitative skills. Re: Course to become a news reader?
hi friend,
News reader must have ability to communicate well (both written and spoken) besides knowledge of and interest in national and international affairs is a must as is a keen, open and well-informed mind. A well-modulated voice, screen presence, the ability to appear calm and confident even in a crisis (which could be anything from a wrong cue to forgotten lines or even a persistent fly that decides to soft-land on your nose) are the marks of a good newscaster. It may be a good idea to start out as a casual anchor/presenter on one of the channels or even as a Radio Jockey before landing a plum jobvv. Also try your hand at compering live shows to gain confidence. Basic qualification needed is the degree in journalism (knowledge in basic computer knowledge). Since you have done LLB so you need to change your line by getting degree in the relevant subjects. |

Re: Course to become a news reader?
hi!!!!
there is no need to do any course to become a news reader or anchor if you have a good communicatoin skills, pleasing personality, command atleast over hindi and english languages and a clear complexion and also have passion about it. You can really do it if you have above all. If you feel less confident and not fullfil all the above requirement than definitely you should join any couse regarding this. You can do a six months diploma in newsreading and anchoring from any reputed institute. with best wishes!!!! |

Re: Course to become a news reader?
Deear Friend ,
Newsreading is a skill which you can't procure through courses . First you should understand if you have such a skill within you . And such a skill can be devolped with your intrest and hardword alone , nothing else can do that for you !!!! Its because of the fact that , this is not something mechanical to be done , you have to display your style , attitude and even your self before the WORLD.... If you fell that you need to improve , the best way is to watch other newsreaders in the television and see how they work it out . Meanwhile you can also do TV JOURNALISM or NEWSANCHORING courses offered by some recongnised institutions (only if you feel that you need to know more , because these courses , in most of the cases are not going to give you preference compared to others) . Now even if you have this taste and telent within you COMMUNICATION SKILL is something which you need in abundance in this field (you can read the news perfectly and accurately only if you know the pronunciation and the meaning of the matter you read !!!!) Now above all , you need someone or somewhere through which you can expose your talent . Try speaking out in areas where you are liable to get recongnised , try anchoring events , keep track on the various media channels(keep a personal contact with some authority over there) and above all keep on improving your knowledge.... Through your hardwork and determination GOD will help you succeed.... ALL THE BEST . V M M M V |
