It does matter based on the course you wish to pursue. Like if you are going for courses like CS and CA 12th score is sufficient. However if you are planning to pursue postgraduate course then yes you need to have a graduate certificate. Correspondence courses are considered equivalent. You check the eligibility criteria before applying.
