Re: Exams after B.E. in mechanical engineering? Can I appear for IES?
Hi friend,
No you can't appear for IES exam in your 3rd year academic session. To appear in IES, you must complete your B.Tech first and then can apply for that exam. Though you can appear in the GATE exam and some other industrial exams at your 3rd year session. if ,you want to do M.Tech in future. All the best! |

Re: Exams after B.E. in mechanical engineering? Can I appear for IES?
Hi,
As you are in 3rd year of your course, It is not possible for you to write any exams for seeking admission. You should be atleast a Final year student to seek admission. To be clear, You can write the exams(like CAT, SNAP, MAT etc), But the score card will be valid only for one year. You can write GATE if you want to, in 3rd year. Coz you can seek admission after final year. The only exam you can prefer in the 3rd year. No. You cannot write IES in the 3rd year. You should have completed the graduation to write IES Exam. Good Luck. |

Yeah Sparkle has explained right, you can not appear for IES, because for that you have to pass your B.E.
Where as you can surely go for GATE, as a provisional candidate. As also becaue GATE score are valid for 2 years. |

Dear friend,
I am very sorry to say that you cannot give IES exam in 3rd year.its because the minimum eligibility is b.tech.though you could give GATE or other exam in 3rd year if you want to do m.tech in your stream. Wish You All The Best! |

dear friend,
yes, of course you can give exams in your 3rd year of b.tech. but for you chances are limited.you can appear for GATE, defense like EKT etc. because maximum exams requires b.tech pass. no, you can't appear for IES in your 3rd year. you have to complete your b.tech.only then you can appear. all the best. |

Re: Exams after B.E. in mechanical engineering? Can I appear for IES?
hi friend,
First thing is that you can appear in any of the year of engineering for IES exam because they are not going to check your eligibility at the exam centre for IES. But the foremost thing should be taken into care is that 1. you must have completed your graduation (engineering) because without doing this you cannot get into any job after this IES 2. There are fixed no. of attempts in IES which is four for general category and increases by 5 years for other one. This would also indicate that if you are seriously interested in IES then dont waste your attempt just to know the exam in 3rd year. 3. It has no validity at alllllll. |

Re: Exams after B.E. in mechanical engineering? Can I appear for IES?
In the third year of your course, you can appear for the GATE exam. So if yo are interested in pursuing MTech then apply for the GATE exam.
However, if you are interested in the Engineering Service exams, then I must inform you that the minimum eligibility conditions for Engineering Services exams state that a candidate must have passed the final engineering exam rendering him a graduate or must be in the final year intending to give the final exam. Since you are still in the third year so you cannot appear for the Engineering Services exam as yet. However you can appear once you are in the final year. |
