Re: How to become an IAS officer? I am in 8th standard
To be an IAS officer one has to acquire Graduation degree as minimum academic qualification.
IAS stands for Indian Administrative service, to become an IAS officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year. The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. The slection is through three stages:- -CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test - Preliminary EXam -Civil Service Main Exam -Personal Interview So if you are interested for IAS you have to first completed Graduation Degree in ay stream and you can start preparation accordingly after completion of 10th standard. Re: How to become an IAS officer? I am in 8th standard
Firstly you should pass 12th class and after that you can take coaching for IAS because you have to clear a test for IAS and if you clear the test you can become a IAS officer. One more thing i want to say that is the test for IAS is difficult so you have to work hard.I also want to say you best of luck.

Re: How to become an IAS officer? I am in 8th standard
You are in 8th class and there is a long time ahead for you if you are aiming for IAS exam.
For IAS exam Graduation is needed. And if you want to start preparing for IAS exam then you must concentrate on your studies at the moment and make your fundamentals clear. Those who have strong basics will not have any problem in future. So you must concentrate on your present studies. The main step will be 11th class in which you have to select your stream. Choose those subjects in which you have interest and want to pursue higher education in that. In IAS you have to select optional subject in Mains exam, Hence you have to select an appropriate subject related to your graduation . The number of attempts are limited for General and OBC means you should be well prepared for the exam when you are applying for it because with every attempt you will lose your chance. So if your aim is IAS officer then you can start preparing from now onwards because syllabus is very vast in case of IAS exam. For more information visit http://www.upsc.gov.in |

Re: How to become an IAS officer? I am in 8th standard
You don't need to start the preparations for Indian Administrative Service Exam now. There is plenty of time to prepare for it. Right now your focus should be on school. You should score good marks in 10th and 12th standard.
Although IAS Exam does not care about your percentage in 10th and 12th, but I asked to focus because in case you fail to make the cut for IAS, the academic performance of yours should be good to get job in private sector. What you need to understand is that out of 5 Lakh students who appear for Indian Administrative Service, only 250+ are selected. Therefore you should always have a backup plan, in case you fail to make the cut. Therefore my advice is to focus on school after which complete graduation. Choose subjects/streams that you find interesting and offer good scope. For example you can choose PCM subjects for 12th followed by Engineering. Only start preparation for the Indian Administrative Exam once you have reached the final year of graduation. Start with basic like improving English and General Knowledge. The books you should refer to are 12th standard NCERT books. IAS Eligibility 1. Candidate should be of Indian origin to apply. 2. A bachelor degree in any stream. 3. There is no percentage criteria. 4. Your age should be 21 to 30 years to apply for IAS. 5. The upper age limit is relaxed for OBC by 3 years. 6. Similarly SC/ST are given 5 years relaxation. Exam Pattern 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Interview |

Re: How to become an IAS officer? I am in 8th standard
Hello,
you need not study from your 8th standard, but have a general awareness about the things happening around you . as upsc website only says that any citizen above the age of 21 who has completed graduation in any Indian recognized university is eligible to appear for it. Start preparing for UPSC with the basic ncert books and then switch on to the standard materials. |
