Dear Aspirant!

IPS stands for Indian Police Service. If you want to become an IPS officer then you have to appear in
Civil Service Examination which is organized by UPSC every year.

UPSC:- Union Public Service Commission

There is requirement of percentage as there is no restriction on percentage to appear in this exam.


Civil Service Exam consist of three stages:

1. Prelim/CSAT Exam
2. Main Exam
3. Interview

Pattern of Civil Service Preliminary Exam:





Eligibility criteria for Civil Service Exam:

-The aspirant should have completed Graduation degree in any stream from recognized university.

-If the aspirant appearing in the final year exam og graduation course the also eligible for this exam.

-The aspirant age should be in between 21 to 30years(for BC 21 to 33years & for Sc/st 21 to 35years).

-The aspirant must have an Indian citizen. Both male & female candidates are eligible for this exam.

hello dear,
there is no any percentage required for IPS but you have to pass the graduation level from any recognised university
you age should be 21- 30 year for general
for obc age shold be 21 - 33year
for sc/st age should be 21 - 35 year
you should an IANDIAN to appear in this exam

for male
your height should be 165cm for general and 160 for other categories

for female
height should be 157 cm

the examination will be held in three stage-:CSAT Exam,Main Exam and last Interview

so be prepare your self before going to the exam

Information about IPS : -

** If you are interested in first you can crack the Civil Examination which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission

Age Limit : -

** Your age should between 21 to 30 years and age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC Candidates as under

For SC/ST candidates 5 years relaxation

For OBC Candidates 3 years relaxation

Nationality :-

** You should be a citizen of India

IPS - INDIAN POLICE SERVICE and to become an IPS officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year.

There is no percentage of marks required for IPS but regarding academic qualification you have to simply either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream of education from a recognised University to apply for the Civil Service Exam provided you fulfill other eligibility criteria for IPS.

You must be an Indian national within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate with good physical Fitness.

The candidate aspiring for IPS should maintain a minimum physical requirement such as:-

HEIGHT - General male-165cm and Female-150cm and SC/ST Male-160cm and Female-145cm

CHEST - Male - 85cm and Female-79cm expandable to 5 cm in both the cases.

The selection is through three phases:-

CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test - Preliminary Exam

-Civil Service Main Exam

I think the minimum percentage to apply for IAS & IPS is 50% graduate from any stream.
