Re: How should I become an IPS officer?
Choosing a non medical base or platform is not at all a problem to become IPS officer for the candidates. But if you did not get good subject knowledge in the platform which you have chosen, then it will be a problem for you.
Because, if you have subject knowledge, then you can perform well in the Written Exam. So, try to be good enough in this area. You did not mention the highest level of academic qualification that you have. Check yourself whether you are having the required eligibility criteria to become IPS officer or not. Academic Qualification : One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university. Candidates who are pursuing final year of Graduation can also take this exam but they should be able to show the proof of passing in Graduation when they appear for Interview. Age criteria : -A candidate of General category should be in the age group of 21-30 years. -Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category. -Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC or ST category. The selection procedure will include Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) Civil Services Main Exam Interview If you have completed Graduation, then I suggest you to apply for this exam and crack it. If you have not completed your Graduation, then start preparation for this exam and make sure that you will be good enough in all the aspects of the written exam by the time you appear for it. Wish you all the best. |

Re: How should I become an IPS officer?
You can select the non medical subjects. Obviously it is all right and will not be an issue at all. The key is to select subjects that are comfortable for you. IPS does not require any specific set of subjects.
So why to worry about it. You should select subjects based on your choice. Its better to select subjects in which you see future beyond Indian Police Service. While your goal is Indian Police Service, always have a backup plan in case you fail to make the cut. There will be lakhs of candidates applying for the Indian Police Service and quite naturally not everyone will get selected. What would you like to do in case failed to make the cut. What course you want to do in graduation and perhaps in post graduation as well. For example you may take Phyiscs, Chemistry and Maths to pursue Engineering. You need to ask these questions to yourself and come up with the answer. Be assured from the IPS side, no matter which subjects you choose and graduation course to complete, the option of IPS will remain open. IPS Eligibility 1. Indian Nationals will be selected for IPS. 2. You should be graduate to apply. 3. No percentage criteria for IPS. 4. The minimum age should be 21 years for IPS. 5. You should apply before your 30th birthday. 6. Upper age limit get relaxed by 3 years for OBC. 7. 35 years is the limit for SC/ST candidate. Selection Procedure 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Interview |
