IAS for B.Com graduate?
Whether a b com graduate student apply for IAS???i really want to appear but i am really not sure whether a b com graduate is eligible for IAS entrance exam or not??please reply as soon as possible n oblige me.

Civil Service Exam is conducted by UPSC for IAS as well as for IPS. The minimum educational qualification required for the exam is a bachelors degree in any stream from a recognized university. Since you are a B.Com Graduate, you are eligible for the exam provided you must be between 21-30 years. The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to SC/ST category is 35 years whereas, its 33 years for candidates belonging to OBC. The IAS exam will have three stages Civil Service Aptitude Test Main Exam Interview The Application form is available at designated post office/Head post offices throughout the country. The last date of submission of both on-line and off-line application form is 21st March 2011. You may also apply on-line. To become an IAS one has to appear for the Civil Service also known as the CSAT exam that is conducted by the UPSC.
Now according to UPSC guidelines the minimum educational eligibility for CSAT exam is that a candidate must be a graduate in any field. Since, you are a BCom graduate, therefore you are eligible and can apply. Other Eligibility Criteria: Age: Candidate must attain minimum 21years of age as on 1st August of the year of exam. Also upper age limit is 30 years(with relaxations for OBC SC/ST) Maximum permissible attempts: The maximum permissible attempts is 4 for general, 7 for OBC and no limit for SC/ST. The forms are available and you must apply soon. All graduates and above including final year graduation students
from recognized universities are eligible to apply for IAS/Civil services examination. Age limit and other information are Age gen 30 yrs 4 attempts obc 33 yrs 7 attempts sc/st 35 yrs unlimited attempts. notification for this year is already out..http://www.upsc.gov.in you should appear only after you have prepared well or you will waste you attempt. |

Any graduate can apply for IAS exam provided you have passed with 50% or more marks in the qualifying exam. Hence you are very much eligible to appear for IAS preliminary exam. Only thing you need to keep in mind is choosing the optional subjects, keep the graduation courses in mind and choose an area where you are comfortable with like accountancy or economics. In addition to the GK and English sections, you will have objective type questions from optional subjects chosen too.

yes u r eligible for IAS . there are three staged exam. It consists of two stages of written exam and the third stage of Interview. The three stages are as follows:
1. Preliminary held in May in which one has to take one optional paper and a compulsory General Study (GS) Paper. This is an objective exam. 2. Mains exam to be held in November if you clear the Prelims. In this you have to take 9 papers. Two optional subjects with two papers each, two GS paper, One essay paper and two papers of qualifying nature in language (English and one regional language) 3. for IAS exam as any Graduate from a recognised university or a college in India is the minimum eligibility criteria for IPS.
He/She should be 21years to 30 yrs of age at the time of appearing in the UPSC held Civil Services Examination. UPSC conduct CIVILSERVICE exam for top service like IAS,IPS,IFS and for other government jobs.Even this onwards the pattern of exam also changed as it doesnot have any special subject and the paper will be same for all the candidates. |
