IAS Stands for Indian Administrative Service and to become IAS Officer you have to complete your Graduate degree course in any discipline form a recognised board, So If you aim is to become IAS Officer, then please apply for the UPSC Civil services examination. This examination is conducted by UPSC Every year in Two Phases : Preliminary examination and Main examination.

Firstly You have to cracked the Preliminary examination, Only then you are eligible for Main examination. Preliminary examination are also called Civil services Aptitude Test (CSAT). There are 2 Papers in CSAT Examination and Both are Objective. You have to cracked Both the examination, Only then you can apply for Main examination.

Main examination was descriptive and you have to choose the Subjects for Main examination on the basis of your Graduation.

Eligiblity Criteria :

>> To apply for this examination, you have to complete your Graduate degree course in any discipline form a recognised University.

>> Final year Graduate candidates are also eligible to apply for CSAT.

>> Your age should between 21 to 30 Years, Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC Candidates.

About Notification :

The Notification of CSAT Examination will be Published in the employment newspaper or in the UPSC Website in the Month of February.

If you are interested in this examination, then please apply for this examination Next year because the Notification of CSAT will be Published on 04/Feb/2012 and the last date of apply for this examination 05/March/2012 and the examination will be held on 20/May/2012.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IAS EXAM

This exam is conducted by UPSC in once time in year.

Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.

But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be in citizen in India.

Optional subjects for IAS main exam:

Economics , Electrical Engineering,Geography, Geology ,History, Law,Management,Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology,Statistics, Zoology, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology,Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy.

You can choose the subject in sense of your strength .

The IAS selection process is consist in three way

1)Preliminary exam
2)Main exam
3)Inter View.

I.A.S i.e Indian Administrative Service Examination.

To apply for this examination,the candidate have to completed degree from a recognized university or equivalent qualification and age should between 21 years and 30 years as on august 1st year of the examination.

Relaxation :-

• Upto five years relaxation for SC/ST categories.
• Upto three years relaxation for OBC categories.
• Upto five years relaxation for Ex-Servicemen categories.
• Upto ten years relaxation for PD categories.

Note :- Candidate who are appearing in the final year of degree course can also apply for this examination.

To become a I.A.S officer,the candidate need to clear the preliminary examination and main examination.

Preliminary :- Two papers and both papers are objective.

Main examination :- Nine paper and one paper is optional.

IAS (Indian Administrative Services) is basically for those who are firmly determined for dedication of themselves towards the own country.

In the main exam the optional subjects includes a literary paper as one of the papers of two papers.Is this correct?

I have done m.sc in chemistry .will it good for me to change my subject or should continue with it for IAS.

will he be offered any other jobs rather then IAS??
