Its depends on one's interest and time.

if you can spend 2 hours a day you can choose public administration,if you able to spend 3 hours then you can choose geography, history as a optional subject.

its totally depends on understanding the subject and how to implement in real life.....
material is found in www.upscportal.com, www.onestopias.com,www.civilservicesindia.com,

Regarding selections of optionals you should give the max importance to your

interest because you have to spend a lot of time in studying your selected

subjects if you don't have interest in what you have selected then

it will become mere waste in ..you will be suffered with boredom so don't

listen anyone's suggestion go through the syllabus and topics of each and

every optional

select the subject in which you are most attracted and have a 80%

interested topics in the syllabus

this is how you have to select the optionals

this should be your target and you have to rock the preparation time

interestingly not boringly

so if you are interested then select that if every one says even it is the

toughest one ..

this is all the opinion of my friends who are preparing for the same

Take the guidance of successful and unsuccessful candidates

Regards

It is upto you to choose your optional subjects for IAS.

Choose those two, in which you have strong base, clear knowledge.

May be it is not your course subjects in which you are strong...

So what?? It does not matter...

Just go with those two subjects which you have faith that you will score undoubtedly good whatever question comes.

It can be literature and maths, maths and physics, physics and literature, any engineering stream ( between civil, electrical or mechanical) and maths/physics/chemistry/literature....

So options are so many, but choice is yours...

Because we don't know your strong point...

Only you know that.

But don't choose the following combinations:

Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration
Commerce and Management
Anthropology and Sociology
Maths and Statistics
Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
Management and Public Administration
Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science
Any two branches of engineering.
Combination of two literatures.
