Re: PCM or Arts? Which one is better for IAS in future?
For appearing in Civil Service examination candidates must have passed bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised university.
Candidates have to qualify in three stages :- Preliminary. Mains. Interview. Candidates are eligible to select optional for Mains examination other than discipline paper. So, you are eligible to pursue any stream in your 12th. Every year large number of students from various discipline appear for examination and qualify in examination. So, you must select your stream as according to your interest. For more information about Civil Service examination visit at www.upsc.gov.in. |

Re: PCM or Arts? Which one is better for IAS in future?
You should be graduate for appearing in IAS exam. Basically IAS stands for INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES. You can be apply for graduation degree after passing 12th standard either with ARTS or with science i.e. PCM.
So, my suggestion to you is that, you should choose any of two as per your interest. But one thing that you shall take care, be determinant on your decision to be an IAS officer. You have to work hard and think broad for clearing all stages for becoming an IAS officer. Make a habit to read the newspaper thoroughly. It will definitely helps you a lot in preparation of IAS exam. |

Re: PCM or Arts? Which one is better for IAS in future?
If you want to become an IAS officer then you should choose arts stream because it will help you a lot during your civil service exam. But it also depends on your choice. If you are interested in science more than arts then you can go for it because there is not any specific subject requirement for being an IAS officer. Re: PCM or Arts? Which one is better for IAS in future?
The full form of IAS is Indian Administrative Services.
Eligibility criteria for Indian Administrative Services: 1. Graduation in any stream from a recognized university. 2. Minimum age to apply for this exam is 21 years. Both science and arts stream are good for IAS exam. Lots of candidates from both stream have cleared this exam. Generally candidates prefer arts stream for Civil Services exam, you can select any stream depending upon your interest in that stream. |

Re: PCM or Arts? Which one is better for IAS in future?
If you want to be an IAS officer, then shall go for Art stream. The basic reason behind my suggestion is that with Art stream, you can easily prepare for your exams. Side by side you can give time to your target. You can read newspaper, solve previous years IAS papers, study history from 6th to 10th class books etc. in free time. My suggestion to you is that you shall try to be regular in study.
After completion of intermediate standard, you have to apply for graduation degree from any recognised institute. After completion of graduation degree, you can appear in IAS entrance exam. |

For becoming an IAS officer you can choose anyone from PCM or Arts because only those candidates are eligible for UPSC exam who completed their graduation. It does not depend on the +2 standard. And the subjects in the graduation is not specified in UPSC exam.
