Yes, NDA Examination is Not for Girls, It is Only for Unmarried Male Candidates.

NDA Examination is Conducted by UPSC, Twice in a year, Candidates have to completed his 12Th examination to apply for NDA.

If you are Interested to Enter into Defence, then for this you have to complete your Graduate degree course and then you are eligible to apply for OTA (Officers Training Academy) of CDS. Girls are only apply for Defence after completing Graduate degree course.

If you are Interested in Defence, then apply for CDS Examination.

CDS Stands for Combined Defence Services examination and this examination is conducted by UPSC Twice in a year. To apply for this examination you must have completed your Graduate degree course and your age should between 21 to 30 years, upper age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC Candidates.

No, girls are not eligible for NDA as NDA is only for Male unmarried only.

NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY conducted by UPSC twice every year for entry in three wings of NDA i.e. Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.

If you are a girl interested for Defence service then after graduation you can apply for CDS (Combined Defence Service) for entry in to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy. The CDS exam is also conducted by UPSC every year two times like NDA.

NDA is not for Girls..

Only unmarried males are eligible for NDA exam..

but if you want to join in Army then you can go for CDS exam..
In CDS exam you can apply for officer training academy section..

For appearing in CDS exam you have to fulfill following eligibility criteria:-

Eligibility for Officer training academy (SSC woman non technical scheme):-

1.Candidate must have complete the graduation in any trade.

2.Candidate must be unmarried/widow/divorced.

3.Candidate must be a citizen of India.

4.Age should be in between 19-24 years.

So, first complete your graduation then go for it..

Details about NDA:

First of all NDA stands for National Defence Academy,this exam is known as one of the defence force exam of India.this exam is carried out by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission).This exam is being held twice in a year namely as NDA I and NDA II.

Candidate who are interested can write this exam and join in defence forces like:

• Indian Army
• Indian Navy
• Indian Air Force

For joining in these forces through NDA,you just need to satisfy the eligibility criteria's framed for the NDA Exam.

Eligibility for NDA:

Candidate applying must have a citizenship in India.Only unmarried male candidates are eligible for the NDA Exam.

Age limit for the NDA Exam is that the candidate must have 16 1/2-19 years i.e candidate should have born after 2nd July 1993 and not later than 1st January 1996.

Education qualification for the NDA exam is that the candidate must have completed +2 from a recognized school board of education with a fair percentage.


As you have told that you are a Girl,you are not eligible for the NDA Exam as you don't satisfy the eligibility criteria for the NDA Exam.

As Indian Army is a defence force it is you need to be physically fit and being a girl you cannot apply for it.
