Hello Sir, what are the physical requirements such as height and weight to become an IPS officer? I have only 1 problem that my eyes sight is little weak and I wear spec for that. Can I wear contact lenses it that is a problem?

IPS officer the civil service examination is conducted by UPSC every year to recruit not only IPS but IAS & IFS officer as well.

Eligibility Criteria

You should have a bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognized university to appear in civil service examination.

Age Criteria

Age should be in between 21 to 30 years.

Physical criteria

Height Male - 165 cm

Height Female - 150 cm

Eye sight

6/6 or 6/9 distant vision

6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye

No color blindness or night blindness

Chest Male - 84 cm

Chest Female- 79 cm

Nasal - Candidates should not stammer while speaking.

Physical fitness criteria for IPS exam:-

Height

For Men : 165 cm(AROUND)
For Women :150 cm(AROUND)

OBC /SC/ST :

Male:160 cm and female :145 cm

Chest

Male candidates-84 (+ 5cm).

Female candidates-79cm(+ 5cm).

Eye Sight

For Worse Eye :6/12 or 6/9 distant vision
For good Eye :6/6 or 6/9 distant vision

Completed degree in private is eligible for I P S
