Re: What is the required qualification to become an IPS officer?
IPS officer should be graduate. If you haven't already completed a bachelor degree, please do so to apply for the Indian Police Service. Feel free to choose the bachelor course.
After completing the graduation you can apply for the Indian Police Service through the entrance exam called Civil Services Examination. It is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. Do not simply apply for it soon after completing graduation. You should prepare for it. For having any chance of clearing the Civil Services Examination, you should study for at least 8-10 months period. If you are a graduate then spend the remaining of the year preparing for the Civil Services Examination. You can not apply for the entrance exam in this year anyway because the registration period ended couple of months back. IPS Eligibility 1. IPS candidate should be Indian citizen. 2. Bachelor's degree from a recognized institute. 3. There is no percentage criteria for bachelor's degree. 4. The minimum age to appear for exam is 21 years. 5. The upper age limit is 30 years. 6. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC. 7. SC/ST can appear for IPS before turning 35 years. IPS Physical Criteria Male 1. Chest should be 84cm with 5cm expansion. 2. Height should be 165 cm for General and 160 cm for ST. Female 1. Chest criteria is 79 cm and 5 cm expansion. 2. Minimum height 150 cm, for ST, 145 cm. 3. Under no circumstances should be pregnent during medical tests. Vision Distant Vision for Good Eye: 6/6 or 6/9 Bad Eye: 6/12 or 6/9 Color blind and night blindness will get you disqualified. |
