Re: What is the scope in Merchant Navy?
dear friend
Merchant Navy refers to the merchant fleet of a country, which varies in capacity. Seafarers on merchant vessels, who hold various military-like ranks and responsibilities and are sometimes members of various maritime trade unions, are required by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers to carry Merchant Mariner's Documents. Career options:- Deck Officers: Deck officer or navigation officer as the name suggests is in charge of the navigation of the ship. That particular department is called Deck department. The captain or the master of the ship is in charge of the ship. He is not only responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel but also for the discipline on the ship and safety of passengers, crew and the cargo. Engine Department Marine Engineers: Marine Engineers have the complete responsibility of the ship's technical management. The main personnel in this department is the Chief engineer who ensures safe and economic running of all engines, boilers, electrical, refrigerating and sanitary equipment, deck machinery and steam connections aboard the ship. Re: What is the scope in Merchant Navy?
Frnd,Merchant Navy is the backbone of international trade. Without Merchant Navy, much of the import export would be stopped. So, it is a job in which you can expect more and more.
So you should not worry about the scope of Merchant Navy in future. It will also be bright in future. Career in Merchant Navy can be pursued either as an officer or a rating in mainly two specialised fields that is Marine engineering and deck. Best of luck for you! |
