To become a income tax officer exam, you should qualify in SSC CGL exam. So if you once completed SSC CGL Tier I and II and interview exam then you are eligible for Income Tax Officer.

Being a engineer, you are eligible for Income Tax Officer exam.

Minimum qualification required to apply for this examination is completing a degree course from a recognized Institution.

Your age should be in between 21 to 27 years.

Age relaxation-

Upper age relaxation for OBC is upto 3 years.
For SC/ ST , it is upto 5 years.
For PWD it is upto 10 years.

How to become Income Tax Officer after Engineering:

To become Income Tax Officer, you are required to give "Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE)" conducted by Staff Selection Commission. Staff Selection Commission conducts this CGL Examination for recruiting candidates into 28 several departments and one of the such departments is "Income Tax Department". And you are required to give "Income Tax Officer" post as your first preference while giving options. The basic educational qualification required to apply for Staff Selection Commission CGL Examination is "Graduate Degree" or Bachelor Degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Engineering degree is a graduate Degree, so you are very certainly eligible to apply for SSC CGL Examination. There are total 3 rounds namely Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 (Interview). You are required to qualify all the three tiers successfully in order to become Income Tax Officer.
