Re: Is it mandatory to get 55% marks in each paper in post graduation to apply for UGC NET exam?
Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from a recognized institution are eligible to apply for UGC NET exam . But, there is no need to get 55% of marks in each paper in post graduation to apply for UGC NET exam. So, if you have secured 55% of marks in your Master's degree, then you can apply for UGC NET exam.

Re: Is it mandatory to get 55% marks in each paper in post graduation to apply for UGC NET exam?
There is no such stated rule that you need to clear your post graduation with above 55% marks in all subjects to be eligible for NET.
You are eligible if your aggregate marks in Post Graduation are above 55% for General and 50% for OBC(Non creamy layer)/SC/ST/PWD candidates. You can get 5% more relaxation in marks if you are a PhD holder and for such candidates 50% marks are enough in post graduation to be eligible. |
