Generally to attend the IAS exam, age limit for the General category is Minimum 21 years and maximum can be 30 years, on 1st August. 2013.

But, for the OBC candidates, there is a relaxation of maximum of three years to appear, i.e. if any one attained 30 years in his/her life, being a OBC candidate, he/she can attend the exam till 33 years.

Dear friend

IAS stands for Indian Administrative services. It is the most prestigious and respectable services of India.

IAS comes under the category of civil services examinations which is conducted by UPSC every year.

The age limitations for civil services examinations totally depends upon the caste /category to which you belong:

From the given picture ,you can see that there is a age relaxation of three years to obc and five years to sc/st respectively.

OBC and SC/ST candidates have advantage in no of attempts also:

General: only 4

OBC:7

SC/ST: no limit.

For physically handicapped the age relaxation is of ten years.(21-40 years)

Some other qualifications for IAS :

1.Minimum academic qualification: Bachelor's degree is necessary.

>>Final year candidates are allowed to appear for the exam.

2.Nationality: Indian.

Civil services examinations is conducted in three stages:

1.Preliminary test,also called CSAT

3.Personal interview

Note : The duration between first stage and second stage that is main examination is nearly five months.

Dear,

Age limit for IAS exam for different category are as follows:
  1. General:21-30 years.
  2. OBC:21-33 years.

So you are eligible to appear for the IAS exam. You have to write UPSC exam for it which stands for Union Public Service Commission. This exam is conducted in following phases:

  2. Main exam.
  3. Interview.

One can proceed to second phase starting from preliminary exam if he/she qualify the preceding phase means if you will qualify prelims then only you can write main exam and so on.

This exam is a tough one and it requires a complete high level preparation if you are giving it seriously. Also qualifying this exam in first step is not possible for many candidates in that case you should not lose your confidence and focus and keep trying until you get what you want!

BEST OF LUCK!
