The Labour Bureau of the Ministry of Labour & Employment came into existence in the year 1946 by renaming the Directorate of Cost of Living with additional functions. The Labour Bureau is involved in collection, compilation, analysis and publication of statistics on different aspects of labour all over the country.
It is also responsible for collecting related information on wages, earnings, production, working and living conditions. It is also involved in evaluation of working of various labour enactments.
It maintains the data records of consumer price index numbers for industrial, agricultural and rural labourers, and wage rate indices. It also maintains data records related to industrial relations, socio-economic conditions in the organized and unorganized sector of industry.
The primary function of the Labour Bureau is to deal with matters related to Labour Research, Labour Intelligence as well as observation & evaluation studies under the Minimum Wages Act 1948.
Job Profile:
Labour Bureau invites application from eligible Indian citizens for the post of Investigators on contract basis for a period of six months.
No. of posts: 37 (State/ UT of Haryana -19, Punjab -17, Chandigarh -1)
Pay Scale – Consolidated pay of Rs. 9000 – Rs. 10000
Eligibility:
Age criteria – The minimum age limit is 21 yrs and the maximum age limit is 65 yrs.
Educational Qualification – The candidates must have a degree with Statistics/ Economics/ Mathematics as one of the subjects, or Graduation in Commerce or MBA in any discipline. The candidates must have fluency in local language.
Selection Process:
The selection for the posts is through written examination and interview.
