In the year 1982, the Tamil Nadu board of School examination was established. It conducts two board examinations, one in class 12 and another in class 10. All examinations thet are conducted in the state level in public and private schools, come under this Tamil Nadu State Board of School Examination. Microbiology, a term where micro means small and bios means life, is the study of microorganisms which are tiny, single celled organisms such as fungi, virus, eukaryotes etc. Microbiology is also the study of immunology and henceforth an important part of our education system.

Sectional Division

There are four sections in this paper-A, B, C and D and the entire question in each of the sections are aligned serially.

Pattern of the Question Paper

The paper consists of four main sections. The first section consist of various forms of questions such as multiple choice questions, fill in the blanks, match the column, one word or one sentence answers etc and the candidate is required to answer all of them. The multiple choice question has four options out of which one correct option is to be selected. The second section consist of twenty questions out of which any fifteen questions are to be answered and the third section  contains ten long answer questions out of which any six questions are required to be answered. The last section comprises of seven questions approximately and the candidate is required to answer any four.

Marks Allocation

The total marks in this paper are a hundred and fifty. The first section is of fifty marks and consists of very short answer questions, each of one mark. The second section is of thirty marks, each question consisting of two marks each i.e. a total of fifteen questions should be attempted out of twenty. Section C is of  thirty marks too and one is required to answer six questions, each carrying five marks. Section D is of forty marks consisting of seven marks, out of which any four questions are to be attempted and each question carrying ten marks each thus summing up to a total of a hundred and fifty marks.

Time Duration

The time allocated for this paper is three hours.
