Unlike CBSE and ICSE Tamil Nadu Board is a state board and conducts two board examinations to evaluate students of class 10 and class 12. And class 12 examination is more important as it determines the eligibility criteria for admissions into other programmes. The board can extend its jurisdiction only to the schools in Tamil Nadu. For class 12 students there are 3 streams science, commerce and arts. Accountancy is one of the papers for the commerce students.

Time duration:

A candidate gets 3 hours to solve the 200 marks paper.

Qualifying marks:

A candidate needs to secure 70 marks out of 200 to qualify in this paper.

Division of paper:

There are a total of 4 sections in the paper. Section ‘A’ is of 30 marks and contains all 1 mark questions. The questions are generally ‘fill in the blanks’ and multiple types choice questions. And the questions are not all theoretical but numerical are even there. Section ’B’ is of 50 marks containing 14 questions each of 5 marks. A student has to answer any 10 questions in not more than 50 words. The questions are either small numerical or direct theory question. Section ‘C’ is of 60 marks and contains 7 questions of 12 marks each. One of the questions is compulsory and from the remaining question, 4 are to be answered. And the last section contains 4 questions of 20 marks each and one has to answer 3 questions.
