GIC Officer’s Examination (GIC Officers Exam) 2012
General Insurance Corporation of India is conducting an entrance examination called as General Insurance Corporation of India Officer’s Examination (GIC Officers Exam) for recruiting candidates for the post of G I C officers. This exam is recruiting candidates directly to the post of high ranking officers. The post is called as Assistant administrative officer or in short form called as AAO. These officers are appointed as branch managers in various offices and they are assigned many tasks which are very important to the firm. The job is very attractive and those candidates who are capable can apply for this post i.e. for Assistant administrative officer.
The insurance companies recruiting through this General Insurance Corporation of India Officer’s Examination (GIC Officers Exam) are given below:
- National Insurance Company Ltd, Calcutta
- The New India Assurance Company Ltd, Mumbai
- The Oriental Fire and General Insurance Company Ltd, New Delhi
- United India Insurance Company Ltd
The officers will be assigned two jobs one in the administration wing and another in the development wing.
The jobs in administration wing include making policies, registry of claims within permissible financial limit and in filing official returns and statements to regional offices.
The jobs in Development wing include marketing and procurement of business, about how one can promote the business and also about the management of the fund and its disbursal.
Structure of GIC Officers Exam
The General Insurance Corporation of India Officer’s Examination (GIC Officers Exam)
Consist of two parts or stages.
The first stage consists of the written test. The topics included in the written test are:
- Test for reasoning
- Test of English language
- Test of Numeric Ability
- Test of General knowledge and general awareness
The questions will be of M C Q type. Each question will fetch you one mark if the answer you have given is correct. Each question has multiple choices from where the candidate has to find out the correct answer. There will be also a descriptive test. Candidate can attend this test in Hindi or English language.
The second stage is the interview. Candidates who qualify the written exam can only take part in the interview.

Test of Numeric Ability:
The questions will be from topics like,
- Decimals and fractions
- Relationship between numbers
The questions will used to check the candidates ability in mathematical problems and how quickly he / she can solve a problem.
Test of General knowledge and general awareness
The questions will be based on the day today events. This is mainly asked to check the candidate’s knowledge about the important events taking place in his society.
Eligibility Criteria
- Any candidate with a graduation certificate or a post graduation certification certificate can apply for this General Insurance Corporation of India Officer’s Examination (GIC Officers Exam).
- The candidate applying for General Insurance Corporation of India Officer’s Examination (GIC Officers Exam) should have an age not below 21years and not over28 years.
- Those candidates below or over this age will not be permitted to attend the examination.
- Those candidates who can apply for age relaxation will need to submit the original certificates or proofs for age verification at the time of joining.
- The minimum percentage of marks needed for this exam in graduation or post graduation level is 50%.
