Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is conducted by Graduate Admission Management Council (GAMC), which is an organization recognized worldwide for graduate business schools. The candidates can get admitted in various Post Graduate Management Courses in different foreign institutes after clearing GMAT. Admission to almost all best business schools is conducted through GMAT. This exam assesses the aptitude of the candidates in business studies. This test is conducted in a number of nations around the globe.

GMAT is conducted to select top candidates who are suitable for management course. This is a standardized test to check the analytical, verbal, mathematical, and writing skill of the aspirants. A particular score is decided as cutoff in different subjects. The candidates appearing for this exam need to pass with the desired cutoff. A large number of candidates appear for this exam. This makes the GMAT an exam of high standard. The number of seat available for various courses is very low.

Eligibility Criteria for GMAT

  • Graduate Admission Management Council has not prescribed any minimum education qualification for appearing for GMAT.
  • The council has not fixed any age limit for appearing for the test. However, there is slight change in the process for candidates below 18 years.

These candidates have to send a form in writing to “GMAT Customer Services” of the candidate’s region. The parents or the local guardian of the candidate need to sign the form. This form specifies that the guardian of the candidate will agree to all the terms and conditions of the exam as specified by the council. Any candidate who has the desire to pursue his education at various B-schools globally can take up this test. Many renowned and famous business schools select candidates on the basis of GMAT score.

The GMAT exam is not conducted on a fixed period or date. The candidate needs to register in advance for appearing for GMAT test. A minimum of 15 days advance registration is mandatory for GMAT test. The test is conducted online. The duration of the test is four hours. The usual fee of GMAT test is US$250. Some countries also charge taxes along with the fees. More than 900 institutes all over the world use GMAT scores for admission in their institutes. The most important criterion for selecting the candidate in various B-schools is the GMAT score. The GMAT score is valid for a period of two years. Some of the top universities which consider GMAT score are London Business School in UK, Harvard Business School in US, Trinity College in Dublin, Yale School of Management, Duke University in Fuqua, etc.

    Sir,recently i took my CAT exam.But i’m not satisfied with it.can i apply for GMAT exam in 2014.Is the preparation same for CAT and GMAT or else should i need to prepare much more for taking GMAT?
