Difference between same subject course in B.Tech and B.Sc
B.Tech stands for the Bachelor of Engineering while B.Sc stands for the Bachelor of Science degree. There are some differences as well as some similarities between these courses.
B.Tech is a four year course while B.Sc is a three year course. B.Tech is a technology course while B.Sc is a science course. For example, B.Tech is offered in disciplines such as Electrical Engineering, Computer science Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Communication Engineering etc. while B.Sc courses are offered in disciplines such as Physics, Computer application, Electrical, Biology etc.
Some of the subjects are common for B.Tech as well as B.Sc. Some of those subjects are Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Biotechnology, etc. The main difference between B.Tech and B.Sc for these courses is the time duration. Due to this difference in duration, in the B.Tech courses, more emphasis is given on practical training as compared to the same subject in B.Sc.
Now, if we consider B.Tech in Information Technology (IT) and B.Sc in Information Technology (IT); we would see that in B.Tech (IT), the candidate is taught many principles of general engineering such as engineering drawing, workshop, general physics, electrical and electronics etc. But in B.Sc (IT) the candidate is taught only the programming languages and that tools that are necessary in the Information Technology industry.
Moreover, in B.Tech studies a lot of time and effort is dedicated to practical training of the theoretical studies. While in B.Sc, the whole course work is designed such that the candidate is given thorough theoretical knowledge.
Due to all these difference, B.Tech has greater employability as compared to B.Sc.
