Difference between the M.Tech and M.Sc course
The Masters of Science and the Master of Technology are courses which are provided by universities of all countries. These degrees are given to individuals who have completed the study of a specific subject or area of specialized practice. The key differences between the two courses are given below.
M.Tech course and opportunities
The M.Tech course is pursued by candidates after the completion of the undergraduate programme. The GATE entrance exam is conducted yearly for the admittance of candidates into the M.Tech programme. If the candidates choose to go for higher studies, they can do the Post graduate courses and then attain a PhD. Candidates who have completed the M.Tech course can find employment in fields like the Navy, the Army, and the NDA etc.
M.Sc Course and opportunities
The Masters in Science course is taken by students who have finished their bachelors in science course. There are many institution which offer courses in M.Tech. The admissions in these institutes are conducted based on the merit scored in the qualifying examination. Students can either go for research or teaching after the completion of the Master’s course.
Key difference between M.Tech and M.Sc course
The M.Tech course is a 2 year PG programme where the students take more advanced courses in addition to a project of a one year period. The Masters of Science course is a research based postgraduate degree where the importance is given to the thesis rather than the course work. The Master of Technology degree program is intended to develop the ability of candidates in the planning, classification, and the capacity to deal with the complex technical systems available in our society today. It offers the students with up to date knowledge of complex technical systems whereas students who take up Master’s of Science will build up a capacity for problem analysis, independent research and a better knowledge in any one discipline of science.
