Eligibility and Exam Pattern for NESLET

NESLET is a state eligibility test conducted for lectureship. The test is organized joinly by the state Governments of North Eastern region, (ie Assam, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Sikkim, Meghalaya, and Tripura).Master degree holders with a minimum of 55% marks can apply. There are three papers for this test, Paper I, Paper II, and Paper III. Paper I is based on general aptitude questions and it is common for all candidates. Paper II and Paper III is subject concerned.

Eligibility Criteria for NESLET

Only Indian nationals are eligible. They must be a master degree holder with a minimum of 55% marks. But, SC/ST category candidates need to hold 50% marks only. More precisely, candidates with even 54.99% or 49.99% marks are not eligible to apply. Final year students as well as result awaiting candidates matching these much qualifications can also apply. There is no age limit for appearing the test. Candidates can attend the test any number of times.

Exam Pattern for NESLET

NESLET exam is conducted in objective model. There are three papers for this test, Paper I, Paper II, and Paper III. Paper I is based on general aptitude questions and it is common for all candidates. There are 60 questions in this paper, in which candidate need to answer 50 questions only. Each question carries two marks. Paper II and Paper III is subject concerned. The subjects included for the test are as follows.

In paper II and paper III, there are 50 questions each. These questions are compulsory and carry 2 marks each. Except for language paper, questions are asked in English. Usual multiple choice type questions as well as matching model questions are asked for the test. Assertion, reasoning, and True and False, are some other model of questions that can be expected. One hour and 15 minutes is allotted for answering paper I and paper II (separately). Duration given for answering Paper II is two and half hours.

Candidates should qualify each of these papers to get through the test. For general category candidates, cut off marks for Paper I and Paper II (each) is 40%. Here the cut off marks for Paper III is 50%. OBC and SC/ST candidates need to obtain a minimum of 35 % marks for Paper I and Paper II (each) to qualify. For paper III, OBC candidates need to have 45% marks and SC/ST candidates must have 40% marks to qualify.
