As an Indian Army Engineer, you could be a part of any of the three elite corps of Engineers,


Bengal Engineers.
Bombay Sapers
Madras Engineers

Two Options available
a) Permanent Commission
b) Short Service Commission

In short service Commission you can serve for 5 years and have an option to quit the army.
you can apply following ways
1.)Technical Entry Graduates IMA exam mostly held in January and July and age should be 20 to 27 Years and mode of selection is Direct SSB..
2.)SS Commission not fixed and after completion of b.tech chech with related dates in employement news.
3.)OTA –Technical Entry held in May and Oct/ Nov and age should be between 19 to 25 and mode is Direct SSB

Hi

As you have already fill a form for the UES you will get a call letter from the Army. In the call letter they invite you for the interview and when you clear that interview you will be called for the SSB.

If you have completed your engineering then you will be called directly for the SSB.
The questions that are generally asked in the interview according to my personal experience are given below:

1. A good speech on your self .
2.Current Affairs.
3.Technical question related to your branch.
Only these questions are mostly asked in the interview.

You can also join Indian army as an officer through CDS exam. The details regarding this exam is mentioned below:

The notification for exam is mostly published during the month of october.

Age limits
For Indian Military Academy:19 - 24years
For Air Force Academy:19 - 23years
For Naval Academy:19 - 22years

Educational qualifications
For IMA and OTA :- Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
For Naval Academy :- Degree in Engineering
For Air Force Academy :-Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

In India, army is the most important part of defence.

To join Indian Army you have to fight Civil Defence Services exams i.e. CDS and NDA exams.

Both CDS and NDA exams are conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).

Educational Eligibility For Indian Army -

a. For NDA = A candidate pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Maths with minimum 50 % aggregate marks from a regonised board.

Age Eligibility For Indian Army - 16 Years to 21 Years.

b. For CDS = A candidate pass graduation in any subject or in any engineering from a regonised institute / university.

Age Eligibility For Indian Army - 21 Years to 30 Years.


Physical Eligibility For Indian Army - A candidate should be physically and mentally fit.

1. Eye Sight = 6/6,
2. Height = 167 cms,
3. Weight: 50 Kg
4. Chest: 77 cm (Normal) / 82 cm (Expanding)

Procedure to Join Indian Army - ( 5 Stages )

1. Written test,
2. Physical tests,
3. Medical tests,
4. Group tests and
5. Personal Interview.

UES: university entry scheme,is meant for all male and female candidates those who have attend there first university degree,that is (Bachelor degree) or B.tech. Notification for it are released In Employment news.

SSC: short service commission,is ment for all male and female candidates those who have B.sc/M.sc (Physics,radio,electronics,) or B.tech/M.tech (civil,mechanical,electronics,electronics & talecommunication,Aeronautical etc.) with atlest 60% aggregate including all semester.Notification for it are released In Employment news.

CDS: combined defence service,you can enter to army by cracking CDS exam conducted by upsc twice every year,provided you have'nt crossed the age limit of 23 years.Notification for it are released In Employment news.

NCC Special Entry Echeme: This scheme is meant for all those who have acquired NCC "C" certificate after two years in it at senior level.Qualification must be anything Bachelor in any field or Engineering.This entry scheme occurs when required,therefore keep reading Employment news always.

Fast Track Entry Scheme: are meant for recruiting Engineers through campusing.Like wise MNC's This time IAF has also introduced this scheme for recruiting young Engineers in IAF in technical branches.This scheme held across the selected Engineering Institutes of India.

This scheme also takes place in Various "Career/Educational fares" or by Organising Rally etc.

You can join in Indian Army after B.Tech by appear for CDS exam.CDS stands for Combined Defense Service.This exam is conducted by upsc every year twice,to take qualified student into different defense service like

To appear for this exam
For Indian Army:
You should have complete graduation degree with any stream from a recognized university.
And your age should be between 19 to 24 years.
For Indian Air Force:
You should have complete graduation degree in Engineering with any stream from a recognized university.
And your age should be between 19 to 23 years.
For Indian Navy:
You should have complete graduation degree in Engineering with any stream from a recognized university.
And your age should be between 19 to 22 years.

If you fulfill with above mentioned criteria,then you can appear for this year CDS exam.

CDS-I exam application was closed on 28th Nov 2011.
So you are missed for CDS-I exam.So You can appear for CDS-II exam.

Engineering graduate can join the Indian Military Academy directly.
So, you only need to attend the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview.

Eligibility :-


Age Limit - Between 20-27 years at the time of joining.

The course starts every year in the month of January and July.
Advertisement of the application form published in March/April & Oct./Nov in employment newspaper.
