Hi All,

I have done Marine Engineering from MERI kolkata affiliated to Jadavpur University.
Am I eligible for IES exam (Mechanical)??
I have heard that any engineering degree is minimum criteria for selection. Is it correct??
Please guide.

IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service Examination and this examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year . This year IES examination notification was already released and the examination will be held on 15 / 06 / 12 .

To apply for this examination , the candidate must have a completed engineering degree from a recognized University .

Engineering degree in :-
---------------------------

Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication

or equivalent qualification .

Those who are completed M.Sc degree with Wireless Communication , Electronics , Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a Special Subject .

Age limits :-

The candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years as on 1st august of the year of examination and Upper age limits is applicable for reserved categories .

Upper age limits :-
-------------------

• SC/ST :- 5 years .
• OBC :- 3 years .
• Ex-Servicemen :- 5 years .

IES stands for INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE, the exam for which is conducted by UPSC once every year for recruitment in the top technical post in Mechanical/Electrical/Civil/Electronics & Telecommunication Dept. under Central Govt.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final B.Tech. engineering degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for SC/ST candidate up to 5 years and for OBC candidate up to 3 years.

The selection is through written exam based on the core subjects like Mechanical/Electrical/Civil/Electronics & Telecommunication followed by personal interview.

CAN I give IES exam after Completing B.E in marine engineering?

which option I should opt for, a B.E degree in metallurgical engineering from any NIT or, B.E along with M.tech dual degree program from technical university in mechanical engineering?
