Am I eligible for IES exam(Mechanical) after doing marine engineering from Meri Kolkata?
Hi All,
I have done Marine Engineering from MERI kolkata affiliated to Jadavpur University. Am I eligible for IES exam (Mechanical)?? I have heard that any engineering degree is minimum criteria for selection. Is it correct?? Please guide. Vikash |

IES stands for INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE, the exam for which is conducted by UPSC once every year for recruitment in the top technical post in Mechanical/Electrical/Civil/Electronics & Telecommunication Dept. under Central Govt.
The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final B.Tech. engineering degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for SC/ST candidate up to 5 years and for OBC candidate up to 3 years. The selection is through written exam based on the core subjects like Mechanical/Electrical/Civil/Electronics & Telecommunication followed by personal interview. which option I should opt for, a B.E degree in metallurgical engineering from any NIT or, B.E along with M.tech dual degree program from technical university in mechanical engineering?
