I am studying in B.COM 2nd year, tell me whether should I give the IPS exam and what should be my minimum graduation marks to apply for IPS exam?

IPS Exam Eligibility
- You must be an Indian Citizen.
- You must have passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Age Limit : 21 to 32 years. Relaxation for reserved categories as per government rules.
- Maximum Attempts Limit : 6 for General , 9 for OBC & No limits for SC/ST.

After completion of 2nd year of B.Com degree, you can apply for IPS exam through Civil Service Exam.

Those candidates who have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university are eligible for Civil Service exam. This exam doesn't require any percentage marks in graduation degree.

Age Criteria:

For General: 21 to 32 years
For OBC: 21 to 35 years
For SC/ST: 21 to 37 years

No. of Attempts:

For General: 5
For OBC: 9
For SC/ST: No Restriction

Yes, B.Com. students can apply for IPS exam.

To become an IPS officer, one has to write Civil Services Exam conducted by UPSC .

The eligibility criteria for the civil services exam are as under:-

-The candidate must be a citizen of India.

-The candidate should have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized college or university with any percentage.

-The candidate age should be in between 21 years to 32 years for general category.Age is relaxed for OBC by 3 years and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

The selection process involves of

* Preliminary Exam

Preliminary Examination consist of two objective type papers i.e., General Studies and CSAT(Civil Service Aptitude Test) of 200 marks for each paper .

* Main exam

Mains Examination consist of 7 conventional type papers of 1800 marks .

* Personality Interview and Group Discussion .
