Hello Sir myself Omprakash Singh.I have just given 12th exam with Science stream.Now I want to be an IPS officer but i dont know how to plan for this,go for coching or not please repl.

yes u can become dear...all u need is to crack civil service exam....

this is the exam to become ias or ips..as u hav passed class 12 this is the best time for u to start ur prep...i dont know u r aware of changed pattern of exam or not...if ur not then first visit the civil service official website and then download the syllabus from that site and go through it....it will give u an idea about the format of exam...
the exam consist of three phase prelims mains and interview.....

from the changed pattern now prelims will consist of 2 papers of objective type.....
mains will hav 4 gs papers 2 english papers common to all and two papers of the optional subject u choose....

this yr also more than 5 lac student appeared in the exam...as u know the structure of exam is very complex...and one of the toughest exam in india...i advised u to go for coaching....delhi is best place to opt for ias coaching....if u cant get u can also prepare through self study around 50% students clear this exam by self study...so best of luck buddy

IPS Stands for Indian Police Services.It is conducted by Union Public Service Commission through Civil Services in the every year.

Minimum educational qualification required for IPS Exam is Bachelor degree .There is not require any kind of percentage marks in graduation degree .

Your age should be in between 21 to 30 years old .Age relaxation is provide as per govt rule .

The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.Also you must be citizen of India.

The acronym for IPS is Indian Police Services.


Sorry to say that you are not eligible for IPS examination.


Currently, you have passed 12th with Science stream; so, you cannot become an IPS officer at present time.


For becoming an IPS officer, you will have to pass graduation in any discipline.

If, you will complete your graduation, only then you are to be eligible for the IPS examination.


The eligibility criteria required for the IPS examination are prescribed as below:-

* Completion of graduation in any track from any accredited college or university.

* Final year contenders are also eligible.

* Age limit:- 21-30 yrs.

Sorry , now you are not eligible for IPS exam , but after complete your graduation degree you can apply for it...


A candidate must have completed their graduation Degree in any Discipline from recognise universities are eligible for Indian Police Service exam....

Final year students are also eligible for this exam...

The minimum educational qualification for IPS exam is graduation. So you are not eligible after completing 12th standard but you are eligible when you are complete your graduation. This exam conducted once in a year by the UPSC(Union Public Service Commission).
