Can i get admission in aeronautical engineering four year degree course after doing mechanical engineering?

How many percentage required in final year of mechanical engineering to get admission in aeronautical engineering in an reputed institutes?

You are eligible to do M.Tech in Aeronauticals after completing B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. But this is not four year course, just like every other M.Tech course it too is 2 years long course. Aeronautical is considered as one of the toughest fields of Engineering which has huge potential of growth. Aeronautical Engineering specialise in designing, developing and testing military aircrafts, commercial aircrafts, missiles etc.

It is also considered as the high paid field of Engineering where salary could touch even Rs 8 to 10 lakhs. Basically candidates who have finished b.tech in the courses mentioned below are eligible for Masters degree in aeronautical engineering. These courses are:

Mechanical

Civil

Electrical

Electronics

Instrumentation

allied branches

Now coming to your next question. If you want admission in good college then you would neet at least 60 percent marks in the B.Tech course. However percentage alone is not going to get you admission. You will have to appear in entrance exam called GATE.

GATE exam is for candidates who want admission for M.Tech courses. Your performance in GATE would ultimately decide which college would give you admission. Apart from GATE you can also give state level entrance exams such as PGCET etc. But they are only valid in particular state.

If you want admission in top colleges like the IITs, then you surely will have to appear in the GATE entrance exam. Even a good performance in GATE does not mean that you would get admission in IIT.

Therefore here is what you should do:

Apply in as many IITs as possible.

Then wait for the call from IIT. Please remember that even after appearing in the GATE exam, you will have to appear in written test to get admission in IIT. This requirement however may no be necessary in other non IIT top aeronautical engineering colleges.

Yes, off course you can join Aeronautical engineering after completing your B.E Mechanical.

For that you have to take admission in M.Tech.

This is 2 years course after completing your B.E or B.Tech.

Eligibility for M.Tech:

=> A candidate should have completed their B.E or B.Tech with atleast 60% from recognise universities.

=> A candidate should have appear for GATE exam and crack with it good score.
