Nice to see that you are Interested to Become IAS Officer, IAS Stands for Indian Administrative services and to become IAS Officer, you have to apply for the UPSC Civil services examination to become IAS officer. This examination is one of the most competitive examination conducted by UPSC and it is not easy to cracked this examination in one attempt, if you luck and hard work, only then you cracked this examination.

To apply for this examination, you have to complete your Graduate degree course in any discipline from a recognised university.

Your age should between 21 to 30 years to apply for Civil services examination. Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC Candidates.

The notification is published in the month of February every year and eligible candidates may fill the application form online only.

The examination is conducted in these 2 stages:

-->> Preliminary examination
-->> Main examination

Firstly, you have to cracked the preliminary examination, this examination is objective and if you cracked this examination then you are eligible for Main examination.

Main examination is Descriptive one and you have to choose the subjects in Main on the basis of your graduation only.

Hello dear user,

IAS Stands for indian administration service.
For this you have to clear an entrance exam called Civil Service Examination which is conducted by Union public service commion once every year in the month of may. However forms will be available from the month february. The basic egligibility criteria and qualification needed are as follows:-

I. Nationality
a. For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India.
b. For other services, a candidate must be either:
i. A citizen of India, or
ii. a subject of Nepal, or
iii. a subject of Bhutan, or
iv. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
v. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republicof Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.


II. Age Limits
a. A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, 2010,

i.e. He must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1980 and not later than 1st August, 1989.

b. The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable:
1. upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.

2. upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
3. Upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989.


III. Minimum Educational Qualifications:-
The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.


VI. Physical Standards:-
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Civil Services Examination. 2010 as per guidelines given in Appendix-III of Rules for Examination published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary dated 2nd Jan, 2010.

If you are interested to become a IAS Officer?

First you can crack the Civil Examination which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission

Eligibility Criteria for Civil Examination : -

** You must have a bachelor of degree in any stream from a recognized university

** Your age should between 21 to 30 years, and age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC Candidates as per norms

For SC/ST Candidates 5 years

For OBC Candidates 3 years

** You should be a citizen of India

No.of Attempts : -

** For General Candidates 4 attempts

** For OBC Candidates 7 attempts

IAS exam is conducted by UPSC through Civil Service Exam.
Eligibility Criteria
  • you have graduate degree from a approved university.
  • Age criteria--
  • your age should be 21 to 30 years.
  • No. of attempts--
  • 4 for gen.
  • Fee detils
  • 100 for gen candidate and no fee for other.

Syllabus


Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours

- Current events of national and international importance

- History of India and Indian National Movement

- Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.

- Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.

- Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.

- General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization

- General Science.


Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours


- Comprehension

- Interpersonal skills including communication skills

- Logical reasoning and analytical ability

- Decision making and problem solving

- General mental ability

- Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level)

- English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

As you are interested to became a IAS officer for this you have to appear Civil Service Exam , The eligibility criteria for Civil Service are as follows:

Age Limit:

A general category candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August 2012 .

There is a relaxation for SC/St & OBC candidates.

Educational Qualification:

The candidates should be a graduate in any disicipline from a reciognize university .

Number of attempts permitted:

For General Category - 4

For OBC - 7

To become an IAS officer you need to apply for the upsc civil services exam conducted every year and the exam is held in three phases:
1.Prelims
2.Mains
3.Interview

IAS Exam i.e. Indian Administrative Exam

To become IAS officer you need to complete your studies i.e. after 10th complete 11th & 12th,then complete Graduation from a recognized university.
  • Minimum qualification required to appear for IAS exams is Graduation from a recognized university.
  • AGE limit:-Age must be between 21 to 33 years for General category.
    Age must be 21 to 35 for OBC category.
    Age must be 21 to 35 for SC/ST category
  • Number of Attempts:
    Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.
