For this you have to clear an entrance exam called Civil Service Examination which is conducted by Union public service commion once every year in the month of may. However forms will be available from the month february. The basic egligibility criteria and qualification needed are as follows:- I. Nationality a. For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India. b. For other services, a candidate must be either: i. II. Age Limits a. A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, 2010, i.e. He must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1980 and not later than 1st August, 1989. b. The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable: 1. upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe. 2. upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates. 3. Upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989. III. Minimum Educational Qualifications:- The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification. VI. Physical Standards:- Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Civil Services Examination. 2010 as per guidelines given in Appendix-III of Rules for Examination published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary dated 2nd Jan, 2010. IAS exam is conducted by UPSC through Civil Service Exam. Eligibility Criteria
Syllabus Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours - Current events of national and international importance - History of India and Indian National Movement - Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World. - Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc. - Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc. - General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization - General Science. Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours - Comprehension - Interpersonal skills including communication skills - Logical reasoning and analytical ability - Decision making and problem solving - General mental ability - Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level) - English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level). |

As you are interested to became a IAS officer for this you have to appear Civil Service Exam , The eligibility criteria for Civil Service are as follows: Age Limit: A general category candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August 2012 . There is a relaxation for SC/St & OBC candidates. Educational Qualification: The candidates should be a graduate in any disicipline from a reciognize university . To become IAS officer you need to complete your studies i.e. after 10th complete 11th & 12th,then complete Graduation from a recognized university.
