Sir, i am in 12th class.
would you tell me what should i do to get in merchant navy after 12th & minimum % required in 12th to get in navy.

For joining the merchant navy it is a must that you should have studied Physics as one of the main subjects in 12th standard. Also Mathematics and Chemistry should also be the subjects studied. You need to have minimum of a 1st class in 12th standard. You need to appear for the various entrance exams conducted by institutes like IGNOU, IIT etc.

A candidate with the qualification of +2 can join Merchant Navy as Deck Cadet provided he has passed the +2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Maths. So, if you have studied those subjects in the +2, you may apply for Merchant Navy or you can go for further studies like BSc. in Nautical Science or Engineering.

In merchant navy, you have several options to choose: Deck management, engine room control, shipment management, container offload, port management, container crane, navigation, ship maintenance etc. Choose what suits you!

You have to pass in 12th with Physics and Mathematics as subjects with more than 60% in both the subjects to get into merchant navy.

You can join indian navy after 12thclass if you have physics, maths and chemistry combination.so as do join merchant navy..

but you must have scored more than 60% in PCM in 12th board...............

Basic eligibility criteria is to passed class 12th with PCM(Physics,Chemistry,Maths) with overall (minimum)60% marks.And Individual marks in each paper is 60% for physics,Chemistry and Mathematics.Beside this score 50% in English either in X or XII.

If you want to become a Merchant Navy you must have selected Physics,

Chemistry and maths as your subject which means you must take science

stream in 12th std. After 12th std if you want to enter as a normal navy you

can do Bsc nautical science. If you want to enter as an officer you must join in

engineering college in a course named marine engineering.

Think twice before joining speciallly from engineering side..bcoz their is very little growth scope for them.As automation had totally slashed down the manpower required to run the ship.So doing training for merchant navy engineer will be completely wastage of time and money & while in rewards will get life long struggle for jobs.My suggesstion not to join merchant navy but if join then please opt Deck side officer only.
