Is Indian Statistical Service a Civil Service? Eligibility criteria of ISS 2016 exam?
I am confused and want to know that is Indian Statistical Service a civil service? What is the eligibility criteria to write it in 2016?

The eligibility criteria required to appear in Indian Statistical Service (ISS) 2016 examination is mentioned below :-
1. You must be a citizen of India. 2. You must have attained the minimum age of 21 years and must not have crossed the maximum age of 30 years as on 1st August, 2016. 3. You must have obtained a Bachelor's degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics /Applied Statistics as one of the subject or a Master's degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics from a recognised University. 4. You must be Physically fit as per physical standards mentioned in the UPSC ISS examination notification. |

ISS Indian Statistical Services Examination is also one of the Civil Services examination which will be conducted by the UPSC board,every year this examination is conducted by the UPSC it self once a year.
ISS examination also requires some of the eligibility criteria which needs to be followed in order to appear for the ISS examination,some of the required eligibility are.
These are the required eligibility criteria to appear for the ISS examination This ISS examination also comes under the Civil services and UPSC conducts the ISS for recruiting the candidates under different planning commission,economical board,National Sample survey officers,etc and in order to appear for this candidates should possess the above mentioned eligibility criteria. The selection process will be done through the written test first and shortlisted will be sent for the next rounds of interview,the written test consists of the following syllabus

To be eligible under the ISS IES Eligibility Criteria 2016, the candidates’ age should be min 21 year and maximum 30 years.
For the Indian Statistical Service exam, Candidates must have the Post-graduate degree in Applied Statistics or Mathematical Statistics or Statistics etc. |

ISS(Indian Statistical Service) is the civil service exam conducted by upsc.
Eligibility You should have passed postgraduate qualification in subjects of Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics. Selection - Written Exam - Interview (200 Marks) Exam Pattern - General English and General Studies - 100 marks (3 hours) - Statistics-I - 100 marks (3 hours) - Statistics-II- 200 marks (3 hours) - Statistics-III- 200 marks (3 hours) - Statistics-IV- 200 marks (3 hours) Important Dates ISS 2016 - Registration Starts : 06/02/2016 - Last Date to Apply : 04/03/2016 - ISS Exam : 14/05/2016 |

No, ISS recruitment is not through Civil Services examination and the eligibility to appear for examination is also different to that of Civil Services examination.
ISS examination is conducted by UPSC every year and to appear for examination required qualification is candidate must have passed post graduation from recognised university in Statistics, Applied statistics or mathematical statistics. Candidates age must be between 21-30 years There is relaxation in upper age limit for reserved category candidates. For more information about examination visit at www.upsc.gov.in. |

Yes, Indian Statistical Services Examination is one of the Civil Services examination which will be conducted by the UPSC board every year.
ISS examination Eligibility are: 1. Candidates age must be 21-30 years in order to appear for the examination. 2.
