dear friend,

No.there is no such rule. You just need to be graduate in any discipline but from a recognised university to apply for IAS OR Indian Administrative Services.

Few rules:
1. Nationality must be Indian.
2. Age must be between 21-30years if general.
Relaxation:
3 years for OBC
5 years for sc/st
Attempts:
4 attempts for general.
7 for obc
No limits for sc/st
Thank you.

IAS eligibility criteria:

It does not really matters which stream you belong to as they just look for graduates in any discipline from a recognized university.

Your age should be between 21-30 years.

At the most you can attempt for four times.

Selection procedure includes preliminary exams, main examination followed by interview.

There is no need of any percentage of marks in Graduation for IAS exam. Only a pass in Graduation is sufficient to apply for this along with other qualifications.

There is also no specific IAS examination. To become an IAS(Indian Administrative Service) officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC every year.

Besides an aspiring candidate being a Graduate in any stream of education from a recognised University, must be an Indian National within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. The final year candidate appearing for Graduation Degree exam is also eligible to apply for Civil Service Exam.

The selection of candidate is through two stages of written exam along with final selection through Personal Interview.

The Two Stages written exams are:-

CSAT - CIVIL SERVICE APTITUDE TEST which is also called as Preliminary Exam comprises of all objective type questions as per prescribed syllabus.

CIVIL SERVICE MAIN EXAM comprises of subjective type questions from prescribed syllabus.

Dear Friend ,

To become an IAS officer , there is no any provision that you have to secure specific marks in graduation as the most important thing that you require on educational qualification basis is that you must have passed graduation in any stream from any recognized college / university.

Other important things that you need to consider for IAS exam is given below :

* The IAS exam is conducted by the union public service commission every year.

* The exam consists of two stages -

a) Preliminary b) Mains.

You have to qualify both the exams in order to become an IAS officer.

* Your age must lie in between 21-35 years and must have Indian Nationality.

This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding the same. Hope the information will help you to the extent you want.
