Re: Minimum percentage required for SC candidates to appear for IIT?
Hiii,
Here are the brief description about the percentage of the iitjee: IIT-JEE 2012 Minimum Qualifying Cut-off • •General category candidates need to score at least 10% in each category • •OBC candidates must have scored minimum 9% in each category • •SC/ST candidates must have scored at least 5% in each category Aggregate Cut-Off for IIT-JEE 2012 • General category candidates appearing in JEE needed a minimum of 35% marks (or at least 143 marks out of 408) and must have scored 14 out of 136 in three subjects: chemistry, physics and mathematics. • Aggregate cut-off for OBC candidates appearing in the JEE-2012 stood at a minimum of 31.5% or at least 13 out of 136 in each of three subjects: chemistry, physics and mathematics. • For SC/ST and PD category candidate the aggregate cut-off was a minimum of 17.5% or at least 7 out of 136 in each of three subjects: chemistry, physics and mathematics. Also, for JEE 2013, the cut-off may vary for different boards. It will prove to be a disadvantage for students as the cut-off varies up-to 20%. Earlier, the eligibility for IIT-JEE was that the students should have attained 60% or more in Board Exams. PROCEDURES FOR DETERMINING THE CUT-OFF MARKS AND RANKING According to the brochure for IIT-JEE 2013, “Only those candidates who attempted both Paper – 1and Paper – 2of JEE (Advanced) -2013 will be considered for the ranking. Marks in Physics in JEE (Advanced) – 2013 will be equal to marks in Physics section of Paper – 1 plus marks in Physics section of Paper – 2. Similar procedures will be followed for Chemistry and Mathematics. The sum of the marks obtained in the individual subjects will be the aggregate marks for the candidate.” Rank Lists (minimum qualifying cutoff and aggregate cutoff) Based on the performance in JEE (Advanced) – 2013, a Common Merit List (CML) will be prepared. Candidates must score at least 10% in each subject and 35% in aggregate in order to be in the CML. Separate merit lists will be prepared corresponding to OBC (Non Creamy Layer), SC and ST categories. Candidates of OBC (Non Creamy Layer) category must score at least 9% in each subject and 31.5% in aggregate in order to be in the OBC merit list. Candidates of SC and ST categories must score at least 5% in each subject and 17.5% in aggregate in order to be in their respective merit lists. Which, you will have noticed (if you haven’t fallen asleep), hasn’t changed over last year’s minimum qualifying cutoff and aggregate cutoff. As regards the eligibility for JEE (Advanced), the distribution of top 1,50,000 candidates across various categories is as follows: • Top 75750 (50.5 %) Common Merit List • Top 40500 (27%) Other Backward Classes-Non creamy layer OBC (NCL) • Top 22500 (15 %) Scheduled Caste (SC) • Top 11250 (7.5 %) Scheduled Tribe (ST) Good luck !!!! |
