Since you have completed graduation you should apply for the UPSC Civil Service Examination. Generally Union Public Service Commission releases the notification every year in November-December. Once the notification is issued please follow the procedure to apply for the exam.

Now there are two stage of written exams. First would be preliminary exams which will take place in May. There will be two papers in it. First would be general studies while second would be optional subject.

Preliminary Exam basically is a qualifying exam which you need to pass to appear for the Main Examination. Only after passing this exam you can appear for main exam which is conducted in August/September.

There will be nine papers in the main exam. There will be two language papers that are also just qualifying exams and there score will not be added in the final tally. The two papers would be on English language and other on a regional Indian language which also includes Hindi.

The third paper will be "Essay". The next two papers are on General Studies while remaining four papers would be on two optional subjects which you will have to select. There is a list of subjects from which you will have to select two subjects. There will be two papers on each subject.

The main examination is followed by Interview after which you will be selected.

Considering the competition in Civil Service Examination, it would be better to start preparation early. For General studies papers which will be part of both exams you should read NCERT books of Class 12th.

General Knowledge and current affairs is also important part of the general studies exam. You will have to read a lot of newspaper and watch news to keep yourself up to date.

For optional subjects the choice would be yours. The common advise is to select easy subjects, perhaps related to your graduation course. Else you can pick geography, history etc.

I believe Indian language paper will not be an issue since you will have wide range of choices. English could be difficult therefore you may have to work hard on your grammar to improve english.
