Mathematical model of a process is a mathematical representation of the process obtained by applying conservation principles like mass, momentum and energy balance and constitutive relationships like phase and chemical equilibrium and chemical kinetics. Process simulation refers to the solution of the governing equations comprising the model to predict the steady state and dynamic characteristics of the process. Process simulation plays a vital role in optimal design, operation and troubleshooting of chemical plants and simulating plant transients like start up, shut down and closed loop performance.
ASPEN is one of the most celebrated process simulation software from AspenTech Inc. USA. ASPEN Plus is a versatile and user friendly steady state simulation tool that is widely used both by academicians and process industries worldwide.


ASPEN WORKSHOP

ASPEN WORKSHOP will provide participants the opportunity of getting a working knowledge of ASPEN. The ASPEN sessions will embrace two of the most popular ASPEN modules, ASPEN Plus process simulator, and its sister suite ASPEN Properties, which are valuable tools to simulate steady state processes and to estimate and analyse physical properties, respectively.


WHO CAN ATTEND?

The workshop is intended for pre-final and final year students of chemical engineering. Selection is based on first come first serve basis. Based on the response, similar workshop may be conducted at a later date.

The 2008 edition, the thirteenth in the line, however, transcends its predecessors. Chemfluence ’08 ushers in an epoch, and has grown in stature from when it started, as a national-level symposium to becoming a national-level technical festival, the first ever, exclusively for budding chemical engineers. Chemfluence ‘08, planned as a larger and a much more bigger four-day event, filled with a galore of contests, marks the convergence of ingenuity, heuristic skills and zeal of the Gen-Next.

Chemfluence ’08 works towards inciting the minds to think out of the box, and to quench the insatiable thirst for challenge. Chemfluence‘08 encompasses events, which include traditional paper presentation contest on a wide range on Chemical engineering topics, Technical quiz, Simulation contests, Industry defined solutions, Demos and Workshops, Math Modelling, Physical modelling, and a lot more. Chemfluence ’08 also brings forward Revelations- Guest lecture Series that is all about conflux of ideas, experiences and viewpoints. Chemfluence’08 also gives the participants can an exposure to the celebrated chemical engineering simulation tool ASPEN at our ASPEN workshop.
