if you will do work in India than your salary will be vary from 25000-50000. after experience your salary will be increase.
if you will do foreign than you salary will be approximate $1500-$2000.
There are many offers like two way free passage, holiday travel, food, paid leave etc.

In many candidate ask u a questioon how much salary in merchant u write above 25 to 50 thousand but i completed my course from bp marine in 2010 but cant get a job still now.now 2013 is going on i m still unemployed but 100000students are unemployed u write 25-500000 thousand salary but this is not truth .

Complete your Pre Sea Training - Going to Sea for completing your required sea time Internship (Stipend USD250 - USD 500 , Stipend depends on your experience)- Completing your sea time - Apply for your officer Examination 3rd officer / 4th Engineer depending your interest & your sea time in DECK / Engine.

I see here many studip questions like "what is the salary", "can i get in m.navy with 12th pass with less than 50 %", etc etc... Pls note that merchant navy is not a simple job,, like many of the people like that its a job for the failures..

This is a profession, which requires utmost skill.. A merchant navy officer is a navigator, an egineer, a mechanic , an electrician, a cook, a cleaner, a good administrator.. So pls dont be stupid enough to ask non-sense questions like can 12th fail also join..
Mariners find their own solution..
we are not just paid,, the pay is for the responisibilty, the amount of trust thats put on a person for carrying millions of dollars of cargo from one part of the world to other, without harming the environmnt...

I kindly request that further nonsense questions be avoided.. Pls ask relavant questions about joining this field or getting a company etc, dont just join this professsion because you get paid high..
This is a tough and DIGNIFIED job...

Hi disksha,

Firstly, let me ask if you expect your 12th board results to be 50% or more (aggregate) with english more than 70 % and PCM more than 60 %.

Secondly, can you clarify, as what you mean by which job i can get?.

As this post is wrt merchant navy, after passing 12th with the above said percentage, you can either go for the engine side (starts as a junior/trainee engineer thereafter rises to being the head of engine department), or you can go for the deck side. (starts as a deck cadet, and after passing subsequent exams rises to the position of a Master [captain] , who is the overall incharge of a ship)

For civil it might be possible, if these following requirements are met:

1. if your age is below 23 yrs, you can join merchant navy.
2. ur english marks (both in 10+2 and eng) to be more than 50%
3. eyesight 6/6 .. But some relaxation is given
4. Good health / no disease

You can join as a marine engineer, after doing BE in ME or DME (diploma in ME), or you can join the deck side doing B.Sc is nautical Science or Diploma in Nautical Science.
