Re: Which stream in class 12th will be helpful to become an IAS Officer?
Generally most of the students who want to be an I.A.S officer in future go with Arts stream or Commerce in 12th.
But, there is large number of candidates from science stream too who qualifies in Civil Service examination every year. So, there is no specified course or stream so that candidates after pursuing it will become an I.A.S Officer. To qualify in examination all you need is to prepare for examination with dedication, devotion and determination as according to syllabus of examination. So, right now you are eligible to pursue any stream as per your interest. But you must start preparation for examination. Re: Which stream in class 12th will be helpful to become an IAS Officer?
1. IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services. The recruitment of candidates in this service is done on basis of rank in Civil Services examination. Civil Services examination is one of the most toughest exam of India where 5-6 lacs candidates compete for 1000 vacancies where top 150 rankers are alloted IAS.
2. This exam is open to candidates of all streams. Graduates in any discipline in age limit 21-32 years are eligible to apply for this examination. You must allow your daughter to select stream as per her interest. She can pursue 10+2 and bachelor's degree in any stream for joining IAS. 3. All streams are helpful. No such stream has specific advantage in this exam. |

Re: Which stream in class 12th will be helpful to become an IAS Officer?
IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service and to be an IAS officer one has to qualify Civil Services examination held by UPSC once every year.
Civil Services examination is held in three stages which includes Preliminary test, Mains and Personal Interview respectively. First thing I would like to let you know that any bachelor degree holder is eligible for appearing in Civil Services examination as there is no compulsion of any particular subject at any stage of academics. Further as far as you are concerned about the selection of stream for Class 12th and higher academics for becoming IAS officer then for that the most important factor is the personal interest and strength of applicant towards a particular subject as it would seem easier to him/her as compared to any other subject. Also selection of stream is important at this stage as the depth of knowledge in particular subject will result positively at the time of selection of optional paper for Mains. So in my view allow your daughter to choose the subject according to her strength as no subject is easy or hard it is just a perception or myth that particular subject is easy and particular is tough. For more details about Civil Services examination you can refer to the link www.upsc.gov.in. |

I am a class 11th student of science stream. After studying 1 month with science stream, now I have keen interest to become an IAS officer and I have also started preparation for this. Tell me if I should leave science stream and go for arts stream or continue with science stream?
