If you have completed 12th standard from a recognized board with physics, chemistry and mathematics with above 50% marks then you are eligible for IIT-JEE exam. 5% marks relaxation is provided for SC/ST category candidates.

Your age should be in between 17 to 25 years.

JEE is the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. This exam has two stages:

1. JEE main

2. JEE advanced.

Mains exam is the first stage and candidates those who clear this exam become eligible for the advanced stage and the admission to IIT is given on the basis of JEE advanced rank.

There are two consecutive attempts for the JEE advanced, one in the 10+2 examination year and one in the next year following it. The upper age limit for the JEE examination is 25 years with upper age relaxation for SC/ST and physically handicapped category.

IIT Entrance exam is known as Joint Entrance Exam conducted by the CBSE. The rank secured by a candidate in JEE advanced is taken into account for admission in IIT in different streams of engineering. But first candidate has to qualify the JEE mains exam stage then only he/she can appear for the advanced stage.

The upper age limit for the JEE exam is 25 years.

If you will give 10+2 board exam in 2016 then you can appear for the JEE mains exam in 2015, 2016 and 2017 but for JEE advanced only in 2016 and 2017. So only two consecutive attempts for IIT admissions.

IIT conducts the exam like Main's and Advanced. So to get admission in top colleges you need to write IIT Advanced. But before get eligible for IIT advanced you just eligible for IIT Main's. For this only the candidates who got the rank below 1,50,000 are only eligible for IIT Advanced.

Eligibility for IIT Main's :

<> You should have scored at least 50% of marks from the recognized board.

<> Age limit should be in these limits.

-- Minimum Age --> No limit

-- Maximum Age --> 25 years for General candidates

--> 30 years for reserved candidates.

--> Maximum 3 attempts are allowed.
