Re: What to do after 12th to become an IAS officer?
Its great that you are planning well in advance for your future.
Well, to become an IAS officer you should be a graduate first. IAS eligibility states that you should be a graduate in any field. After that you will need to appear for 3 stage exam 1) Preliminary exam 2) Mains exam 3) Interview After you pass the prelims test you will be called for the mains which is held after 2 months or so. After clearing mains you will need to appear for interview All the stages carries certain marks so if you dont clear one you are out of the race. So since you are in 12th you should prepare well in general knowledge section as thats the most important part of the exam. |

UPSC-IAS Introduction The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is the administrative civil service of the executive branch of the Government of the Republic of India. It is one of the three All India Services. UPSC Entrance examination The Civil Services Examination is used for recruitment for many Indian administrative bodies. Civil Service Exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission. It has three stages Preliminary Exam, a Main exam, and an interview. Now there will be no optional subjects in the preliminary examination. Instead there will be a second paper which will be common for all candidates. It will check the administrative aptitude of candidates-hence its name - the Civil Service Aptitude Test [CSAT].It comprises of Aptitude, General Mathematics,Comprehensive English, etc. Academic Eligibility A degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be a Deemed University under the UGC Act, 1956, or an equivalent qualification. Candidates who have appeared or intend to appear for the qualifying examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to appear for the Preliminary Examination. Candidates with professional and technical qualifications recognised by the Government as equivalent to professional and technical degrees. Candidates who have passed the final year of MBBS or any Medical Examination but are yet to complete the internship can also appear for the Main Examination. UPSC exams demand graduation from a recognised university. So,it is not possible to appear for the same after 12th.You need to wait till your graduation completes. Good Luck!! |
