I am a student of commerce stream & I want to apply on merchant navy what I have to do first

Students other than science stream students can join Merchant Navy only by one entry mode i.e as G.P Rating. Genral Purpose Rating (GPR) is six months off-board training provide by many government as well private marine institutes all over India.

On the basis of this six month training you will be provided CDC ( you just consider it as license required for travelling in merchant ships) by the marine institute on the basis of which you can apply for job in any shipping company. After 3+ years job with sam designation you would be eligible open mate examination on the basis of which you can apply for the position of First, Second, Third officer or upto Captain level.

Merchant Navy is tough task not for everyone. Please refer to some known person to know more about the life of sailor. Give yourself plenty of time to take decission.
